Numbers, participation on the rise at TBT

Last summer, the Tampa Bay Tech football team had about 50 players participate in its offseason conditioning program. Today, that number is at 95. What changed?

"I want to say it's because of the success we had last year," Titans coach C.C. Culpepper said. "Last year, we were coming into the season with a (21-game) losing streak."

TampabaytechhelmetThis year, TBT is coming off a 6-4 mark.

"That's really helped out with the kids,"Culpepper said.

Roster numbers aren't all that's up at TBT. So is the percentage of players who attend summer workouts, which might be due to the fact the Titans offered three daily sessions in June and have two every day right now.

"At TBT, it's hard to have just one (session daily)," Culpepper said. "We've got kids coming from all over. Transportation is an issue. And a lot of our kids have jobs. I try to have at least two so the kids can work and find transportation."
