Dunedin's Bellamy could go from Bull to Gator

In March, Dunedin running back Darius Bellamy became USF's first recruit for 2009 when he orally committed to the Bulls.

That commitment now is a "soft verbal" according to Bellamy. And it could lead to a switch from USF to the University of Florida.

After Monday's practice, Bellamy said he would like to take trips to Iowa State, FSU and Florida. The Cyclones are the only one of the three schools that have offered, but Bellamy said "we're talking" when asked about Florida.

"The Gators were my favorite team growing up," Bellamy said.

Last year, Bellamy ran for 1,950 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also had offers Clemson and Ole Miss.

darius will go where he wants hes a star but he needs to qualify for sure good luck

No one is doubting his ability on the field, just his ability in the classroom.

And he was scheduled to go to Countryside, and pulled a last second switch to SPC under Davis' nose. We see how long he lasted at SPC.

Bellamy is the real deal, absolute best running back in Pinellas County this year! So lets support our county star, and hopefully he will deal with his grades, because I know I would like to continue to watch this kid play.

Everet has shown time and time again that he does not care if a kid goes to college. All he seems to care is that the kid gets a 2.0 and plays for him. I dont think his teammates look past the high school season either. I doubt any of them or the coach tutor him with his SATs or FCATs.

They all want the stud to play on theri team but dont care after his 4 years with team is up.

bellamy can do it i ve been in class with him he can do it he just needs to put forth the effort and whoever said the coaches and the team mates dont care about bellamy get a life and quit trying trash people because you have no talent.

May he did not go to Countryside but Davis brought hot dogs for his mama or maybe it was a do-nut.

South Florida always gives a verbal to kids who cannot pass. Count them over the years.

First of all he never went to Countryside and second of all it will be Bellamy choice if he make it or not. Every school has their kids who wants to do things the hard way, so if Bellamy wants to go to college he know what he has to do, and Countryside your only victory against Dunedin will be on these blogs because WE HAVE A SINGER LOL

16,17 year old KIDS people...just wat the hell were you like at that age???

We will see who is laughing at him when he like Engram pisses it all away by not qualifing academically. Coach and team mates dont care as long as he has a 2.0 so he can play friday nights. Does not matter to coach or team mates if he never plays on Saturdays. Just pathetic. Thats why so many comments.

THE MORE YALL HATE ON MY BRO THE HIM AND HIS TEAMMATES JUS SIT BACK AND LAUGH.SO ON FRIDAY NIGHTS WE'LL JUST MAKE U HATERS LOOK STUPID, EVEN WHEN WE ALL SIGN INCLUDIND MY BRO. BYE HATERS

Donnel Engram attended classes at Tarpon everyday. That one shows total ignorance because I can guarantee you there is no special treatment given to any players at Tarpon. That staff doesn't take any crap! Ask Gulf, over half their afro-americans were kicked off Tarpon's team because of their behavior & lack of committment.

use your time and energy wisely when you are the computer. "WHY" such negative comments. Don't you people have anything positive to say about anybody. Why are you all such "HATERS" with the home town young people who's trying very hard to represent your county "STOP HATING". Try putting youself in their shoes for one day and see if you can accomplish what they have. Just be happy for them.

no you need to stop makeing it look like he is going any where

lol,so much hate for a 17yr old...some of you guys need to go get laid or something

There is a reason he left both Countryside and St. Pete Catholic folks...read between the lines...because he certainly cant!

largo coaches don't put up with that i would find it hard to believe that cside did either

i went to school w/Bellamy last year,
he never goes to class, hasnt passed fcats since 8th grade, and is scared to death of SATs,lives w/coach,i could go on and on,but my point, none of this matter, he is a special talent and somehow someway he will be playing on the field on fridays, saturdays, and Sundays unless he gets hurt or somehow loose that god givin ability to run with a football...so please people stop hating...
we all know the star players rec'v star treatment...look at Donnel Ingram from Tarpon, waisted scholarship spot to a guy who never went to school, literally, he would show up to practice everyday after missing the whole day of class, but yet he had a list of offers..why is that?

No grades, no fcat, no sats, no scholarship at UF or USF. What a joke.

i heard he isnt even going to play this year cuz of grades!

Plus I heard he wasnt that fast.

no grades. a good school like that would laugh him out

HE WILL NEVER GET IN UF
WHO IS HE KIDDING?

Make sure you go to class Darius......doesn't matter what you do on the field if you don't get it done with your books. Good luck...
