Jesuit standout to take his time
Jesuit receiver Erick McGriff has several quality scholarship offers (staring with Arkansas, Auburn and Kansas), but he's in no hurry to make a commitment. That's because he thinks a strong showing in 2008 could improve his stock and lead to even more offers.
"I'll probably (commit) toward the end of the season, or after," McGriff said.
Right now, the 6-foot-4, 190-pounder is in the process of determining which schools he'd like to take official visits to this fall. Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, Kansas and South Carolina are among the programs he is considering for a trip. Among those schools, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina have not yet offered a scholarship, but McGriff, who is being recruited to play both receiver and defensive back, said he's getting a good vibe from each. Ditto with Florida State, another school he likes a lot.
Right now, McGriff is wide open.
In fact, he doesn't even have a leader.
"I don't think I'll have one until I take my visits," McGriff said.
