Wake in the lead for Lamar

There are two new developments in the recruitment of Hillsborough running back Lindsey Lamar.

  1. Michigan is the latest to offer a scholarship.
  2. Wake Forest has taken the lead in the fight for his services.

Lamar, whom SuperPrep rates as the state's 63rd-best senior prospect, now lists Wake Forest, Michigan and USF as his top three at the moment. Here's what he had to say about each ...

HillsboroughhelmetWfWake Forest: "They like small, fast, backs. And I like the fact it's a private school. That means they'll be less people in the classroom."

MichiganMichigan: "I like the coach up there and everything about him."

UsfUSF: "It's home. I went to a camp there one time, and I liked the way they practiced."

Lamar hopes to take official visits to each school. He already has one planned for Iowa State in October. Additionally, he is weighing scholarship offers for track from Georgia and UCLA (He's a sprint standout, too).

"I want to go somewhere I can do both," Lamar said.

Head Sanford Says: "He's so fast he'll make a Lion Spit. He's so bad he'll make medicine sick."

I hope LL stays local and plays for USF. LEAVITT needs to start keeping some of our local studs. He lets them ALL get away. There is so much talent in the bay area this year and very little is staying home at USF.

Keith, you may see a new rushing king at the end of the season with Lamar as the Primary RB at HHS this year. He'll get twice as many carries with Marc Thomas and Erick Fennell graduating and Rodney Johnson going to MHS. Great race between the top three. Go ahead and add Chaz Burrows in that race.
