Another QB in '07 class doing well
Two falls ago, much of the area's chatter centered around heralded quarterbacks Robert Marve of Plant and Stephen Garcia of Jefferson. Today, Marve is the starter at Miami and, as early as this afternoon, Garcia could get the nod at South Carolina.
It's worth noting that another member of the 2007 QB class also is doing well.
At Armwood, Justin Hickman was a gritty competitor who went toe-to-toe against Tim Tebow in the 2005 Class 4A final. A year later, Hickman again guided the Hawks into the playoffs, where they eventually lost to Plant.
Now a redshirt freshman at VMI, Hickman, has seen playing time in two of the Keydets' first three games. Thus far, he has helped orchestrate two scoring drives. On the VMI Web site, it describes Hickman as being "a physically tough football player who has the knack for reading the option well, has good instincts and decision making ability."
Sounds like the guy I remember.
