Arenas making huge impact for Tide
When Javier Arenas played at Robinson, he wasn't even the most well-known member of his team. That honor belonged to record-setting quarterback Marcello Trigg. In fact, as National Signing Day approached in the winter of 2006, Arenas had only a couple of scholarship offers. But then Alabama surprised many by coming in late and pulling the trigger. Arenas jumped at the chance to play for the Crimson Tide and well, things have worked out rather well.
Now a junior, he's one of the team's top players.
And that team is ranked No. 2 in this week's AP top 25 after clubbing Georgia over the weekend.
Arenas is making his mark both as a kick returner and in the secondary. He's currently averaging 17.9 yards per punt return, which puts him among the nation's leaders. Arenas also has an interception, which he returned 63 yards for a touchdown.
