Bailey holds his own up front
Most of you know about all-everything defensive end Ryne Giddins. And in today's Times, John C. Cotey familiarized you with Theodore Jackson. Now, it's time to meet another member of Armwood's terrific defensive front.
Alton Bailey.
"He's pretty good, too," Hawks defensive coordinator Matt Thompson said.
A junior, the 6-foot-4, 263-pound Bailey reminds some at Armwood of former lineman Torrey Davis, a five-star talent who is now at Florida. Bailey and Davis have similar builds, and similar games (both are quick feet and possess active hands). One difference, Thompson said, is that Bailey "works a little harder."
A tackle, Bailey transferred to Armwood during the offseason from Tampa Bay Tech. He called Friday night's matchup with Plant "the biggest game of his life" and said he looked forward to playing against star Panthers quarterback Aaron Murray. Last week versus Lakeland Lake Gibson, Bailey performed at a high level and that has his coaches optimistic about his future.
"He went up against a pretty good line and held his own," Thompson said. "He did some things really well."

They say out at Iowa that Baily could not read and that he had to many coaches for teachers in high school that passed him along.

Kalvin Bailey was a good student who discovered staying out late and not going to class as so many freshmen unfortuantly often do. You are correct that they are trying to make Mr. Davis work harder and it seems to be working but he is however eligible. It is a shame to have some coach out there (hmmm, its not hard to guess who) doing their best to try and trash a program that you can't beat. T. Davis has very little if any support, he has had very little if any in terms of a good foundation for making decisions. What little he has gotten has come from his coaches and he would be the first to tell you that.

I heard the team rules was academic related. Not going to class and not working hard enough with the tutors. If I am wrong what team rules did he break? Armwood player getted passed along and given grades. I stand by Calvin Baily and Davis can barely read.

huliman88- I believe every school has kids from other places (this has discussed on many other boards) The issue is dead now, let it go...maybe work on getting your program better, but here in South florida, the transfer issue is over for now....let's get ready for a great season of ball.

Are there any players at the Wood that didn't transfer in? The school must be in Baghdad or something. Sonny and Laness at work again.

Kieth, thanks for doing a blog on a kid who uses a fake address to attend Armwood.

Davis is eligible, he is not playing right now as a result of a violation of team rules.
More hate projected out on players. Real class.

5:27....do you know what your talking about? Davis is eligible up here to play. I am not sure if Davis has parents that will bail him out of jail, and pay all his fines while he drives there mercedes to local starbucks before school...Also I believe Davis also qualified for UF out of High school, just like every other UF, FSU, UM, USF or UCF football player has to do.

Davis is actually on an academic suspension at Florida. Another example of that stellar Armwood academic program. They can play ball the just cant read.
