Batchelor still in running for national award
Former Hillsborough sprinter Kandia Batchelor is now among the 30 candidates for NCAA Woman of the Year honors. She was on the original list of 130 nominees for the award that recognizes a student-athlete who has finished her eligibility and has excelled in athletically, academically and in the community. Nine finalists will be chosen later this month and the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics will select the winner; she will be announced during the annual awards dinner on Oct. 19 in Indianapolis. Said FSU coach Bob Braman: "She's the kind of student-athlete you want your other kids to emulate.''
