Garcia won't get start ... yet
Because the South Carolina offense has been so miserable this fall, the odds looked good that coach Steve Spurrier might name Jefferson grad Stephen Garcia as the team's starting QB this week. But it didn't happen. According to GamecockCentral.com, Spurrier just announced moments ago that Chris Smelley, who has started all but one game this season for USC, would get the nod again this week against UAB. However, Spurrier promised that Garcia, a redshirt freshman, would see significant playing time and would likely enter the game in the first quarter.
