Giles: 'I'm 60 percent' for Friday

GilesSenior Gaither running back Jarvis Giles -- nursing a bruised right leg injury he sustained in last week's preseason game against Durant -- isn't sure whether he will play in Friday's season opener against Chamberlain.

"To tell you the truth, I am only like 60 percent," Giles told the Times Thursday night via email.

Giles, who is aiming for his third consecutive 1,000-yard rushing season, took a helmet to his leg in the second quarter of last week's game after rushing for 49 yards on seven carries. He returned to the sideline that night on crutches but earlier in the week remained optimistic he would play Friday.

Giles, one of the county's top recruits, committed to Tennessee this summer.

eduardo lets talk about how aycock is a better runnng than giles. aycock is not scared and can run the ball inside the tackles.

who cares all you need to know is chamberlain is ready and if giles isnt o well

Even as a Chamberlain fan, I have nothing but respect for Giles. This kid is an incredible talent and even if he was 50% he would still be a threat. I hope he gets to play but I wouldn't risk further injury when the game has no playoff implications. If it is one of those things that by playing on it can't make it worse than feed him the ball.Hopefully the right decision is made. He is fun to watch. (unless you are going against him)

Chamberlain will be on top of this one. How is Jarvis graduating early? He was the King of Teacher Assistants! He is late to practice or hurt ALL THE TIME. Nobody can disagree with this...

gaither 35 chambo 14

Giles at 60% is better than most. Look for a 2 TD Chambo victory tonight. They have too much talent.

You guys are sick! Jarvis, has already proven himself, he's headed to Tennessee in JANUARY! If he's 60% so what? The goal was to get to the next level and no one in this county can say he's not one of the best to play here.

He whines if you hit him hard, and had a bad headache in the playoffs against Chambo. last year in the playoffs.

Here we go with the excuses.
