Hillsborough grad up for major honor

FsuSprinter Kandia Batchelor, a former Hillsborough High star, is in the running from the ACC for the NCAA Woman of the Year award. The NCAA announced 130 nominees and the top 10 in each Division will be announced later this month. The winner will be announced on Oct. 19. The contenders were chosen basedon their academics, service and leadership activities, achievement in sport and their personal statements. Each femal student-athlete must have completed her intercollegiate eligibility in her primary sport by the end of the 2008 spring season and carry at least a cumulative 2.5 GPA.
