New leader, new offer for Hillsborough's Lamar

LamarAfter taking an official visit to Wake Forest over the weekend, Hillsborough running back Lindsey Lamar told the Times today the Demon Deacons currently are his leader. He rated his trip a "9."

"It was nice," Lamar said. "I enjoyed it."

HillsboroughhelmetThe race for his services, however, are far from over. Lamar said he likely will take official visits to Duke, Iowa State and Michigan. Meantime, a new school has entered the picture -- Clemson. The Tigers offered Lamar, also a standout sprinter, a scholarship in both football and track last Friday, he said.

After four games, Lamar has rushed for 478 yards and five touchdowns. He's averaging more than 10 yards per carry.
