Socias to run for the Irish

While in high school, Stephanie Socias’ best time in the 5K was 20 minutes, 58 seconds, an effort she described as “not very good.” But after intense training over the summer, the former Academy of the Holy Names cross country runner and Times 2008 Scholar Athlete of the Year improved her personal best by 80 seconds.

Irish“I worked more than I ever had,” Socias said.

That effort paid off.

Over the weekend, Socias was informed by the cross country coach at Notre Dame that after a week-long evaluation period she had made the team as a walk on (she's there on a pre-med track).

“I was a little shocked, but very excited,” Socias said. “I just never thought I’d be practicing with a Division I team.”
