Canterbury cancels game against Lakeland Christian
Canterbury athletic director Dave Smith said the school canceled this week's football game against Lakeland Christian.
The decision was based on numbers, or lack thereof.
Smith said Canterbury has 12 healthy players
"There's just not enough bodies to play a football game right now," Smith said. "We've got a lot of injuries."
One of the Crusaders injured is quarterback Dominique Thornton, who has a bruised patella.
The game will go down as a forfeit loss for Canterbury. But it allows the Crusaders time to get healthy considering they have a bye week on Oct. 17.
"It gives three weeks to get some guys back," Smith said.

Refreshing to see other schools in the area concerned about the well being of the players in light of small roster numbers and injuries. Good call coach, but I bet you won't catch any flack from the press or busy bodies in Blogworld.

Maybe some of these smaller schools should try joining the 6 man football league next year. It would be better than forfeiting games due to not having enough players and messing up their opponent's schedule.
