Fab 50: Halfway home
No surprises in the top 10 (since, well, it ran Sunday).
But what's the deal with the next 10? Of the teams that were ranked 11-20 last week, guess how many won?
No. Nope. No siree.
TWO! Alonso (which is now in the top 10) and St. Petersburg.
Otherwise, the teams ranked 11, 13, 16, 17 and 19 all lost.
The teams ranked 14, 18 and 20 did not play.
The teams ranked 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26 all won.
This is a swap meet, not a poll!
1. (1) Armwood (5-0)
Friday: beat Jefferson 41-0.
This week: vs. Tampa Bay Tech.
The lowdown: Last three opponents have gone down by a combined 124-0.
2. (2) Chamberlain (5-0)

This week: vs. Sickles.
The lowdown: Put the Chiefs on list of teams that wrap up a playoff spot with win this week.

4. (4) Largo (4-0)

This week: vs. Pinellas Park.
The lowdown: 85 points scored is by far lowest among Tampa Bay's unbeatens. Thank goodness for defense.

This week: vs. Freedom.
The lowdown: Put recent offensive struggles in Riverview mirror....errr, I mean, rear view mirror.
(Photo: Largo kicker Charles Howe puts up a field goal in the second quarter of against Dunedin on Friday. MICHAEL C. WEIMAR | Times)
There's more...
6. (6) TAMPA BAY TECH (5-0)
Friday: beat Spoto 14-6.
This week: at Armwood.
The lowdown: At the moment, Titans don't look like a team that can score on Armwood. Then again, who does.
7. (8) NATURE COAST (4-0)
Friday: beat Pasco 18-17.
This week: vs. Lecanto.
The lowdown: Sharks get a bye week before big South Sumter game. And by bye week, I mean Lecanto.
8. (10) TARPON SPRINGS (4-0)
Friday: beat Countryside 16-15.
This week: vs. Land O'Lakes.
The lowdown: If fans are going to show up for first half, shouldn't Spongers start doing so as well?
9. (7) JEFFERSON (2-2)
Friday: Lost to Armwood 41-0.
This week: vs. Leto.
The lowdown: Does a 2-2 team belong in top 10? I'm going to say yes, so fire away.

The lowdown: Last three games have been decided by four points.
14. (13) COUNTRYSIDE (3-2)
Last week: Lost to Tarpon Springs 15-14.
This week: at Palm Harbor U.
The lowdown: Downed by the dreaded fake extra-point-to-2-point-conversion.
15. (18) SPRINGSTEAD (3-1)
Last week: DNP.
This week: vs. Central.
The lowdown: Eagles could take a huge step toward first playoff berth since 2005 with win this week.

This week: vs. Mitchell.

The lowdown: Tigers are just two wickedly ugly punt return attempts from a perfect record.
18. (17) EAST BAY (3-2)
Last week: lost to Chamberlain 21-6.
This week: at Plant City.
The lowdown: Bold prediction time: Indians don't lose another game the rest of the season.

The lowdown: Andrew Clifford + Jairus Jones = 5 x TD.
21. (23) GIBBS (3-2)
Last week: beat Clearwater 34-20.
This week: vs. St. Petersburg.
The lowdown: Yes, Gibbs is winning. But Clearwater scored 14 in first four games combined, and scored 20 against Gladiators. Just saying.
22. (25) EAST LAKE (3-2)
Last week: Beat Pinellas Park 59-6.
This week: Bye.
The lowdown: Scored more points last week than in first four weeks combined.
23. (24) MIDDLETON (2-3)
Last week: beat Blake 38-8.
This week: Bye.
The lowdown: Should spend bye week looking for new place to host yearly rivalry game with Blake.
24. (16) DUNEDIN (3-2)
Last week: lost to Largo 19-7.
This week: vs. Pinellas Park.
The lowdown: Say...didn't you used to be our No. 5 team?
25. (31) BERKELEY PREP (3-1)
Last week: beat Lake Highland Prep 26-21.
This week: vs. Clearwater Central Catholic.
The lowdown: Beat a really good team this week. A team that happened to easily beat CCC. Soooo....
26. (26) GULF (5-0)

27. (28) LAND O'LAKES (3-2)
Last week: beat Sunlake 28-0.
This week: at Tarpon Springs.

28. (27) FREEDOM (1-3)
Last week: Lost to Alonso 27-15.

This week: at Berkeley Prep.
The lowdown: Marauders held Tamorris Grace to 277 yards and three touchdowns and still lost. (Is there a sarcasm font on this thing....?)

35. (41ish) LETO (2-3)

Last week: beat Dixie Hollins 37-19.
This week: vs. Countryside.
The lowdown: 2-0 vs. teams not in Fab 50. Three more teams not in Fab 50 still on schedule. Yipee!

Last week: Lost to St. Petersburg 17-2.
This week: vs. Northeast.
The lowdown: The last time the Pirates scored a TD, Bill Clinton was president and Arsenio Hall was on TV....well, it certainly feels that way!

Central
Hudson
Keswick
Lennard
Ridgewood
Robinson
Sickles
Spoto
Wesley Chapel

how can u knock an irc team that just beat a team ranked 2nd in the state in 1b? irc is now ranked 3rd in the state in 1a.
Posted by: | October 06, 2008 at 06:58 PM
Maybe because IRC won't beat any of the teams above them?
Pretty good job here Cotey. I'm liking the last 10, as if they are 'other recieving votes.' But I got some questions for you...
LOL -In the playoffs again? Or will pigs finally learn how to fly?
Leto -For real, or just messing with us again?
Dixie -What happened!?
Zhills -Did God change his favorite colors to orange and black? 'Cause I called off any chance the 'Dogs would be above .500, and now they shutout WC. How did they change around their season like this?
Dun Dun -They can't be done done, right?
Gulf -Don't you think it's time to show them some love?
Freedom -Yeah hard schedule, but I didn't expect them to lose 3 straight after they beat Wharton. What's goin' on there?
Wiregrass -Is the the week? Or waiting for SunLake?
Haha, have fun!
Posted by: Jack W. | October 06, 2008 at 07:25 PM
I agree Jack........
Gulf filled the house, broke a county record on the road, all without their Quarterback or the spell back for Golden.
Still no love......
Posted by: Hazeee | October 06, 2008 at 07:39 PM
dixie hollins upset by PHU is PHU here to stay i think so...

no i think IRCS could beat a few of the teams ranked above them. their a solid team.
Posted by: | October 06, 2008 at 08:43 PM
we better blow out seminole this week
Posted by: dhhs | October 06, 2008 at 08:44 PM
Which one of you guys goes to Tampa Catholic. And Durant ahead of Newsome? Until they get some coaches they will remain the most underperforming team in the area.
Posted by: huliman88 | October 06, 2008 at 08:46 PM
Chiefs go undefeated this season
Posted by: Chiefs | October 06, 2008 at 08:48 PM
yea dixie better beat seminole so we can get right for largo and st.pete if we played the way we have the past 2 weeks good bye districs
Posted by: dixie player | October 06, 2008 at 09:12 PM
When is one of our Pinellas teams going to win state? Largo has to go through STA and Lakeland, so that won't happen. Lakewood would have to go through Armwood, Plant, Booker T., or Dwyer, so that probably won't happen.
We want a title!!!!
Posted by: JQP | October 06, 2008 at 09:59 PM
"is palm harbor crazy dixie hollins gunna merk yall as wit tha runnin game yall offence is all goning to be on stretchers believe tht idk wat yall thought yal was doin playin us as ur homecoming game but w.e we ready n gone bring it"

Posted by: phu | October 06, 2008 at 10:15 PM
there is no way dixie had 256 yrs of offence, they had 2 drives aginst phus 2nd and 3rd strings. looks like usf bound #10 isnt feeling so well and does josh brown still have thoes 10 d1 offers, was he even in the game?
Posted by: | October 06, 2008 at 10:25 PM
Gulf is running through everybody they play.how are 2-2 teams up so high. Show gulf some more love. Golden is going against sunlake he might hit 500 this week.
Posted by: j | October 07, 2008 at 12:47 AM
Pinellas has a chance for a state title with #3 ranked Indian Rocks Christian "Together They Will".
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 06:00 AM
The game of the week should be Ft. Meade #1 in the State against Indian Rocks Christian #3 in the State. They are both undefeated and play at Indian Rocks on Holloween.
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 06:03 AM
Your story in the paper is on runnining the score up, yet just as bad is a team that allows their first defense to go back in the game to stop a score..You praise that up, saying their defense only allows so many points. shouldnt be a measuring cup. Better to ask all teams who was the best defense they faced..
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 06:27 AM
Ft. Meade will beat IRC by 60 - 70 points. IRC is not very good they could not beat Wiregrass who has not won a game. They play a JV schedule. That game will finally shut them up. It is like a Division 2 college team saying they would beat Oklahoma every week in the blogs.
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 06:30 AM
FYI IRCS did beat wiregrass in their pre season game. Get your facts straight.
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 06:48 AM
IRCS beat a #2 state Rankings team last week. That is not a JV schedule.
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 06:49 AM
Dixie our QB did very well against you but you still have to be able to move the ball. Which you could not on PHU's defense. Dixie had 45 yards of offense in the first half and didn't score until PHU started to sub in every player on defense. It was homecoming the score was 28-0 Dixie couldn't move the ball and why not play everyone. Dixie quit talking trash you will be lucky to win another game after the spanking you took at the hands of PHU.
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 06:51 AM
Ft. Meade beat lakeland christian by 20 some points and IRCS beat lakeland Christian by 16 points. Ft. Meade and IRCS game will be a lot closer than you think, and IRCS will come out ahead.
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 06:53 AM
Hey PHU is 2-2 and Dixie is 2-3. We will see what the records are in 6 weeks. Remember PHU you have never won more than 4 games in a season - EVER! So I wouldn't get too cocky. Start talking at the end of the season if you have a winning record. Otherwise worry about playing football and let your record do the talking.
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 07:22 AM
TC has played nobody and you have them ranked ahead of Jesuit you all have no shame
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 08:20 AM
yeahh Babe!!
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 08:30 AM
j.....
Until Gulf beats Pasco......and they should, Gulf will pretty much be overlooked because they're not a contender every year. I'm more curious to see if they get some love after that game.
I agree, tough to see two teams ahead of them with worse records.

Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 11:11 AM
Fort Meade will absolutely crush IRC. No less than 40 point spanking. Different level of ball. Ft. Meade, as 1A school, could compete with most squads in the state. They aren't elite but would hang tough with most squads out there.
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 11:13 AM
Tarpon looks amazing this year they ARE going 10-0
Posted by: ts | October 07, 2008 at 11:29 AM
they're a good team, but they are not amazing. they also play in a horrible district. maybe the worst in the state.
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 11:33 AM
PHU SUCKS! Shelton want do half of what he did against CSIDE, Dixie has D1 are you kidding me,who? they look like jr rebels pop warner league, TERRIBLE!
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 11:56 AM
showing a lil love to central. finally making the top 50... i thinkk they should maybe be in the top 40 after 3 straight victories, and with a win over a ridgewood team that was suppose to kill central.
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 12:04 PM
wat the heck is wrong with palm harbour yall had every starter in wen we drove up in down the field andd it was 13 28 wen u finaly scored in the second half then we had some of our back ups wen we scored agian and then yal scored so i dont wana here tht and i bet by the end of the season our record is better then urs

Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 12:13 PM
Ft. Meade is the real deal. Your talking about a program with major talent year in and year out. Heck, consider this. Ft. Meade has beaten Frostproof the past 9 seasons, most of those by just as many points as they've beaten P. county teams.
I thought what was telling was the preseason classic against Ocala Trinity Catholic in which Ft. Meade won 31-7.
I'd be very surprised if IRC hangs with the Miners. Of coarse, I happen to also think that IRC would be crushed by Harmony and Tampa Catholic as well. I'd be the first person to admit I'm wrong, but I seriously doubt I am in this case.
CCC will be fine, although I'd question the use of the phrase "easily." but, it'll be a good game come Friday between BP and CCC.
Of coarse, the big game is being played at Farris- Brennan between Frostproof and Cardinal Mooney. IMHO, the first real game Frostproof has played this year.

tampa bay tech will beat armwood and shock the world

Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 12:38 PM
grammar. lol
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 12:38 PM
did the paper report the correct stats
for the ft. meade vs ccc, it was stated that meade had 700 yards is that right? also the ledger said meade had 3 td called back is that right? if so what happened are they that good or did ccc have a off night.
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 01:18 PM
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 01:18 PM
It was 1 TD called back, it was the 2nd play of the game, it was also a clear holding call on Ft. Meade. No way Ft. Meade had 700 yards of offense, CCC turned the ball over inside their own 10 a few times.
Ft. Meade was the better team that night, and after speaking with the Ft. Meade faithful, they even admitted as much that Ft. Meade caught CCC at a good time, because of the suspended players on CCC's team.
Heck, even an official told me, "CCC, youre better than this."
Posted by: Kibid | October 07, 2008 at 01:36 PM
yeah i'm pretty sure gibbs got dominated by countryside i don't know though, on tv they said they only had 38 total yards so get your facts straight dixie boy... plus you just lost to PHU hahahaha
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 02:05 PM
gibbs beat CSide if the refs make better calls? same as dunedin game. let's see if refs this week call a better game or a CS game.....wink,,,wink ?? CS may make dist. playoff game ,,but that will be it so shut up losers you got nothing going on over there but dumdumb...haha
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 04:12 PM
IRC was losing to Wiregrass when the varsity came out. Fort Meade is the first non JV game that you play. Plus Wiregrass in the worst team in Pasco county by a ton. You will lose by 50 and hopefully you will come back on the board to say your program is at a JV level compared to any good public school in PINELLAS OR Hillsbrough Or Even PASCO.
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 05:53 PM
IRCS was never losing it that game obviously you were not there, and Victory Christian has been to the state championship three years in a row. They are obviously not a JV team. Before you blog be sure you know what you are talking about.
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 06:14 PM
IRC has not played against one legitamate team yet Period.
Posted by: Armwood fan | October 07, 2008 at 06:37 PM
im goin to luagh wen palm harbour beats country side dont blame it on the refs every one has bad refs
Posted by: dixie | October 07, 2008 at 07:07 PM
KESWICK????? are you serious? not a good team at all, beaten badly by shorecrest and they are on there?
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 07:56 PM
IRCS should not even be mentioned in the same sentence as Ft Meade. Ft Meade is a regular state contender with numerous athletes. IRCS just jumped on the scene with a lucky win against Northside last yr that got them into the playoffs and a very weak schedule. Where was this team the last few years against Keswick and Northside. Dont get me wrong they're a good team, but should not be talked about on the same level as Ft Meade
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 10:10 PM
Enough with this stuff. Ft. Meade is better than IRC. We get it. Who cares. Move on. They play each other on Oct. 31st. Talk about it then. Then everyone can say I told you so. ENOUGH!
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 10:38 PM

Posted by: | October 08, 2008 at 08:21 AM
Yeah, IRC beat a #2 rated team, but that team won't even be in the playoffs come Nov. Victory was rated that high based on the team they had 3 years ago, not even the team they had last year. Bradenton Prep would be a better measure for IRC if they wanna measure themselves against smaller schools (1-B). If IRC played a tougher schedule, they would be easier to judge before they play Ft Meade.
Posted by: | October 08, 2008 at 09:33 AM
are the players who did not play vs meade playing this week vs BP. and is that the reason why they lost to meade because of the people who did not play?
also is ccc in a dogfight to make the playoffs or what? who is the front runner FROSTPROOF OR CM.
Posted by: | October 08, 2008 at 10:10 AM

If CCC was 100% healthy and no suspended players, the score would of been a lot closer, but I have a feeling Ft. Meade would of still won by 10 points or so. CCC just made to many unforced mistakes to win, snaps over the head, untimely fumbles etc.
Posted by: Kibid | October 08, 2008 at 11:30 AM
thanks kibid for this info, maybe10:54

To the best of my knowledge, everybody is back this week vs BP.
Last week, the problem wasn't the talent or who did or didn't play, it wasn't even Ft. Meade's speed, it was simply mistakes.
Ft. Meade's speed didn't cause an errant snap to go over Coia's head, having a key player suspended didn't cause a blown coverage on 3rd and 12 only to give up a 55 yard TD to a guy standing in the endzone with the closest defender 40 yards away.
CCC just has to play better, they will this week, I'm 110% confident. Expect a full house for CCC this week as well, lots of Marauder fans will be at BP this week.

To 9:33
Victory beat last years district champ, Pine Castle Christian, 42-7 and Pine castle beat santa fe catholic, who was #5 in 1b, 47-14. So I think they will definitely be in the playoffs come november....
Posted by: | October 08, 2008 at 06:57 PM
PHU does not have a transfer student from Georgia.

hey whats with all the bashing against IRCS, my kids go to that school and you all have no idea what you are talking about. Back Off......... My son plays on this team and he has worked his tail off this year. they are kids leave them alone. its not the superbowl. its people like you that take all the fun out of sports.

Posted by: | October 08, 2008 at 08:40 PM
I agree with 1038.. It looks like there are sides that are for Indian Rocks and against them. I can see IRC beating Shorecrest and Upperroom Christian next week for their homecoming game and that sets up a epic game verses Ft. Meade at the Eagles nest because knowing Ft. Meade they will be undefeated also
Posted by: Bill | October 08, 2008 at 10:13 PM
Hey Jane, no one says your kid isn't working hard-everyone is saying they just can't play with the "big boys" like SPH or Largo. Or, in this case, Ft Meade. The problem is that some kids from your school think they can.
Posted by: | October 09, 2008 at 07:48 AM
listen here seminole u bearly beat ocseola if u didnt have a kicker u wuld of lost we beat ocseola 28-7 so good luck tomorow :)
Posted by: | October 09, 2008 at 08:25 AM
since boga ciega's jv is so good, maybe they can move some of those guys up to help the varsity out. Their scheme isn't that hard on defense, just blitz everybody and on offense just go deep, toss, sweep, iso and maybe a half back pass here and there!!! come on, ya'll gotta do better than that. Maybe teach football for a change instead of depending on talent.

You son's team mates or thier parents come on here and say that the are all that and a bag of chip. That they should be ranked higher than bigger division schools with one loss. IRC does not have the size, speed, or toughness to compete with allmost any class 4A school or above in Pinellas or Hillsbrough. They come on talking trash so people point out reality to them. Don't talk such stupid mindless thrash and people will leave you alone.

Posted by: | October 09, 2008 at 07:25 PM
yea rite seminole is deffinetley not going to beat dixie and well beat them without having 4 starters and it will be by 2or3 tds and palm harbor beat us on a bad nite they jus flat out played better but we can play our worst and beat seminole
Posted by: | October 09, 2008 at 07:40 PM
Hey 7:01.. Only people I have seen IRC trash talk is Ft. Meade and CCC.. Your right about the 4A thing but you never know what can happen. I can see a IRC vs. CCC sometime and I think IRC has a chance. But who knows, im not a student in any of these 3 but im a huge high school football fan and I see IRC very good this year. I agree with Bill in 1013, if IRC and Ft. Meade stay undefeated till oct. 31, that will be a BIG game. I am going to that one

Dixie lost four starters against PHU because PHU's defense was hitting the stuffing out of the Rebels!!!!

WHERE IS CLEARWATER?
Posted by: | October 10, 2008 at 07:51 AM
Mark my words the central bears will beat the springstead eagles this week and they better be at 15 next week on the fab 50
Posted by: the bear | October 10, 2008 at 09:07 AM
Largo has been stomping Plant since before 98. So they should be ranked higher that Plant. Largo is the best school in Pinellas County. Largo has current starters in the NFL. Last year the St. Petersburg Times did not want to give Largo their props. I am beginning to beleive their reporters are biased.
Go Packers...

IRC-37
Shorecrest-21
IRC now 6/0
HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: | October 10, 2008 at 11:49 PM
wow shorecrest played irc with 4 of their starters hurt. they had 2 wide recievers move to o line to play and still out ran irc, not to mention one of the receivers was 5-4 and had a new center have his first start and STILL stuck with them. irc is going to get spanked by meade without a doubt. there is absolutely no question about it.
Posted by: | October 11, 2008 at 12:43 AM
Football is alive and well at PHU! Coaches are finally helping the boys and not just going through the motions. Congratulations on a well deserved win against cside.
Posted by: Ken Stark | October 11, 2008 at 02:55 AM
WOW IRC is not the football team everyone thinks they are! Along with the guy that mentioned sps had 4 starters out they also had many scoring opportunities from the redzone that were poor snaps by the new center and lost two or three fumbles. IRC will get worked by meade and then the bloggers will stop all their rediculous claims, TOO SMALL, TOO SLOW, and TOO WEAK ON D for MEADE. I'm calling it now Miners:56 eagles:7
Posted by: | October 11, 2008 at 03:58 AM
to clear some things up, irc was down a little bit on wiregrass, but irc still won. wiregrass is not the worst team in pasco county, sunlake is. wiregrass NEVER put their jv in becuase this was their first game EVER with seniors and they wanted all the experience they could get.
that is the truth, so lets get it right everyone!
Posted by: da stampede | October 11, 2008 at 10:25 AM
C-side made a lot of mistakes but congrats to PHU for hanging tough in OT after giving up tying touchdown with :04 left. Hey c side ballboy #12, you may want to wait for the end of the game before making a fool of yourself to the PHU fans...real class
Posted by: Dave | October 11, 2008 at 10:26 AM
Wow, IRC won! They are 6-0. Give them a break. Just for your information, IRC also has two starting linemen out, moved their starting TE to center, and had one of the top running backs in the county (Sitton) out for that game. They did what they had to do to win the game. Coach Hayfor is a great coach and always has his team up for big games. It was a good game, IRC did struggle, but they won. Sometimes you get the ugly wins along with the rest.
Posted by: Pete | October 11, 2008 at 10:29 AM
Good job IRC! But the fantasy run is will end as district runner-up. No shame in that but there is no chance of you beating Ft. Meade.
Posted by: | October 11, 2008 at 10:47 AM
hey dave/10:26, both teams made mistakes in the cside v phu game. the difference was that the Canes kept their composure and fought for every play. Plus the fact that phu's o-line owned cside's d-line. cudos to Just & co. for great preparation!

Hey Kibid-
No smack talk, I hate CCC- but- what has to happen for them to make the playoffs now? I don't know enough about your district to take a guess.
Are you guys finally going to miss them. Just wanting to get a serious breakdown instead of the normal "CCC sucks" or "CCC blows" comments.

October 11, 2008 at 11:22 AM
That's a tough question to respond to because there is so much football left to be played. So I'm going to give you the opinion of what people have told me this morning.
If you go by the popular opinion, Frostproof runs the district table and is 3-0 in district. Right now the standings are
FP 1-0
BP 1-0
CCC 0-1
CM 0-1
CM and BP play in Sarasota the same night CCC/FP plays. BP is very solid this year, but will be underdogs against CM in 2 weeks.. if you go by popular opinion that frostproof beats CCC district standings would be..
FP 2-0
CM 1-1
BP 1-1
CCC 0-2
Then in the last week of the district play, FP travels to BP and CCC travels to CM. Again, popular opinon that FP beats BP..and CCC fights for their playoff life and finds a way to beat CM..district standings finish..
FP 3-0
BP 1-2
CCC 1-2
CM 1-2
Frostproof wins district, and a district shootout occurs for the runner-up spot.
Again, that's popular opinion and anything can happen.

Hey jerry 10:49. I'm on your side. +3 in the turnover department certainly helped though. The hurricanes certainly proved they belong.
Posted by: d | October 11, 2008 at 12:10 PM
Hey PHU has a 3 game winning streak. C-side was the team to beat for the District. Now it is wide open. The PHU defense is much better this year which is the reason they are winning. They are scoring about the same number of points per game but the PHU defense has held opponents to 19, 20 and 21 pts the last 3 games. Not great but good enough to win. Plus C-side was 14th in the Fab 50. Nice job but there are 5 more games to go so celebrate at the end of the season.
Posted by: | October 11, 2008 at 01:52 PM
thats 6, 19 and 21
Posted by: | October 11, 2008 at 04:10 PM
PHU defense causes turnovers every game so nothing new when PHU was stripping the ball out of countryside's arms! I believe PHU is +13 or 14 for the year.
Posted by: | October 11, 2008 at 05:56 PM
We lost friday, in preparation for this week's game our coaches changed everything and the results were a disaster? Anybody else have the same experience?
Posted by: Sick | October 11, 2008 at 06:45 PM
stop the excuses cside you physicaly got beat down friday
Posted by: | October 11, 2008 at 06:49 PM
I was at that PHU/Countryside game and that was a physical game by both teams. They were hitting each other hard on every play, and I bet those kids are sore on both sides this weekend. I've seen PHU play now a few times this year and that defense will hit the stuffing out of people. Heck their offense looked physical as well Friday! That was an excellent football game, good job by both teams.
Posted by: | October 11, 2008 at 11:08 PM
Why is PHU suddenly good this year?
Posted by: | October 11, 2008 at 11:12 PM
Talk about c-side refs. Friends of Shroeder!! Look at c-side photos and see players holding!! It's sick and not one holding call against them. Gibbs ripped off bad!! Inadvertant whistle blown by rookie women ref?
Money helps but in the end losing will end your season! 3-3 hahahahahahahahha
Bogie next! Good luck stopping that pass rush.
Posted by: | October 12, 2008 at 10:01 AM
Its actually 0, 12, 21 against PHU the last three games. If you watched those games you would know why.
Posted by: | October 12, 2008 at 11:11 AM
Bogie is not good this year.
Posted by: | October 12, 2008 at 11:12 AM
PHU is better this year because of their defense. On offense they are scoring about the same as last year. On defense they have a new Defensive coordinator - the old one is coaching Dunedin JV this year. The sad thing is most of the people playing defense this year were there last year but were not used by the old Defensive coordinator.
Posted by: | October 12, 2008 at 11:45 AM
why is it the refs make such an impact in pinellas county? Why are they routinely worse than the surrounding counties. who is in charge of them and why do they suck?
Posted by: | October 12, 2008 at 12:10 PM
How is Tampa Catholic rate 11th? They play weak competition. Yes they were runner-up in State 2A last year but they were spanked by Madison in that game. The tough competitors they have played this year TC has lost. Their 3 wins this year wouldn't show up on the FAB 50. They are about a top 35 team. Without their QB Green they are nothing.
Posted by: | October 12, 2008 at 12:25 PM
I agree with 11:45 that the players are the same the difference is the new D-coordinator puts the kids in the correct positions and uses their strengths in his schemes. I have been told by the PHU players that the new D-Coordinator puts in a crazy amount of hours each week preparing himself and the team. Plus, his attitude is positive and intense and it is rubbing off on the players.
Posted by: | October 12, 2008 at 04:48 PM
Thanks Kibid- from what I had heard it was a 110% done deal they weren't making the playoffs.
I don't have a dog in this fight, but figured I'd get the opinion of somebody pro-CCC to counterbalance the anti-CCC.
I don't know a lot about Cardinal Mooney, but it looks like CCC's playoff life is in their hands, and then CCC will control their own destiny again? (based on what you said).

NOT!
Posted by: | October 13, 2008 at 06:40 PM
ccc vs spc was a good game, but it is clear that both teams are lacking in the defense dept. it looks like spc has some talent for next year i am not sure about ccc. to see the ccc coach complaining after the game about some of the calls was sad but from what i hear he does that alot.
