USA Today Super 25 update

Armwood (5-0) has maintained its No. 5 position in this week's USA Today Super 25 football rankings, which were released today. The four teams ahead of the Hawks are No. 1 Byrnes (S.C.), No. 2 Trinity (Texas), No. 3 Gateway (Pa.) and No. 4 Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas. In the South Region rankings, Armwood is fourth. Byrnes beat Sunshine State power Pahokee 38-12 last week. (You can find the complete Super 25 HERE).

In a normal year, it might be possible for Armwood, should it go 15-0 (which is by no means a sure thing), to jump the teams from other states even if each went unbeaten. But this season hasn't been a normal one. Several top-tier Florida programs have lost to out-of-state teams (see Miami Booker T. Washington, Miami Northwestern, Pahokee, Tallahassee Lincoln, Weston Cypress Bay and Apopka) -- and there's no doubt the state's rep has taken a little bit of a hit on the national level.

Should that be held against Armwood? No. But it could happen anyway.

One thing's for certain: The next three months should be interesting.
