Garcia: Armwood QB "as good as Fayson" was
Just chatted with longtime Hillsborough coach Earl Garcia for a story I'm working on about the mighty Hawks of Armwood that will run in Friday's Times ... and during the interview he had this to say about Armwood QB Mywan Jackson: "I do not think Mywan gets enough credit. To me, he's as good an athlete as we've seen under center around here in a long time. ... he's as good as (former Hillsborough QB) Jarred Fayson was." Anybody who knows Garcia can attest to how much of a compliment that is because Fayson, now a WR at Illinois after transferring from Florida, is one of the coach's all-time favorite players. Thus far in 2008, the 6-foot, 170-pound Jackson has thrown for 1,081 yards and 17 touchdowns -- and rushed for another 807 yards and 11 scores. Rivals.com rates him as a three-star prospect and calls him the state's 80th best recruit.
