Another first for Clearwater's girls basketball
Clearwater is on quite a tear in girls basketbal. The Tornadoes are undefeated, winning 15 straight for the first time in coach Tom Shaneyfelt's 16 years with the program.
The voters in the state poll apparently took notice of that streak.
Clearwater also is ranked No. 1 in Class 5A for the first time in Shaneyfelt's career. Find the rankings here.
"It's a nce recognition," Shaneyfelt said. "I can't remember another time when we've been that high before. But we take it with a grain of salt. You never know how accurate polls are sometime."
The Tornadoes have all but wrapped up the north spot in the Pinellas County Athletic Conference championship game and have at shot at going undefeated through the regular season. But there are sme roadblocks, starting with a game against Pensacola Pine Forest on Jan. 17.
"I think the kids understand that we still have a lot of work to do," Shaneyfelt said.

Great program with a great coach. However, where's the link to the rankings?
