Bloomingdale's Townsend hurt; severity not known
Bloomingdale basketball standout Callum Townsend sustained an injury to his right knee in the second quarter of Wednesday's game at King. The severity of the injury is not known but Townsend, who has more than 1,500 career points, spent the second half on the bench icing his knee.
More than once, he buried his face in his hands.
Townsend's frustration was understandable. He tore his ACL in the same knee last March.
"He said he twisted it," Bloomingdale coach Josh Chapin said. "We'll evaluate it (Thursday) and see how he feels."
Townsend is averaging 24 points a game. The 6-foot-6 senior forward averaged 27 points per game last season to lead all county players.
He is being recruited by several Division I programs and holds a scholarship offer from Boston University.
