IRC's John Hogan, SPC's Matthew O'Donnell transfer to Clearwater

Clearwater's boys basketball team bolstered its lineup with the addition of two transfers from Pinellas County private schools.

John Hogan, an incoming junior, transferred from Indian Rocks Christian. The 6-foot-5 forward was the Golden Eagles' second-leading scorer last season, averaging 14.6 points per game. He will help fill the void in the post created by the departure of Julian Sargent, who graduated.

"John's family lived in the zone and they were trying to put four kids through private school," Tornadoes coach Allen Carden said.

The other transfer was Matthew O'Donnell, an incoming senior who played at St. Petersburg Catholic. The 6-foot-2 point guard led the Barons in scoring last season, averaging 14.9 points per game. He also was among the area's leaders in 3-pointers with more than 70.

O'Donnell gives Clearwater depth among its guards and another scoring option to compenstate for the loss of Regan O'Rourke, who graduated.

"It's been a pleasant surprise to have both of those guys come here," Carden said.

josh brown?? have you seen him play hes 6 10 but plays like hes 5 8. He cant hold onto the ball. If he could get stronger he could be decent but at this point he will not start.

BEN PATRICK??? whered you hear that if thats true then thats fantastic but i have heard nothing about ben patrick transfering. The dude from ppark transfered during the school year, Dionte Hubbard. Hes a decent player but not a game changer like Patrick

clearwater has a dude names josh brown who is gunna be a junior that is 6'10 so he might start at center.ben patrick from dunedin transfered there and another dude from ppark.. ctwhat2 - lakewood is not doing nothing this year, once again they got no size. all there gunna have is d-lane and ladairius barnes... to be honest i actually think gibbs is gunna do way better this year if keowen decides that he wants to be serious and play and with all the talent comin back, i also heard of this white kid & yes i said WHITE kid might play for them next year. heard hes a lights out shooter and could pass really well, could be another tracy parks

O'Donnell is no big loss if he takes his parents with him. Mom is a helocopter and pot stirrer and Dad is just plain nuts. Matt is a GREAT player. If yo don't believe it just ask his parents. Good luck being a small fish in a LARGE pond.

CT just keeps getting better now alls we need is a big transfer to fill the void left at center after julien graduated. CT should have no problem running through the north county next year. I dont see any other team besides lakewood giving them any trouble at all

Both the boys and the girls teams are always filled with a ton of incoming transfers....is it really news? We all see how Clearwater 'builds' their teams.........
