Gulf coach: Hudson offense awfully tough to defend

NEW PORT RICHEY -- Even though Hudson is one of his program’s fiercest rivals, Gulf coach Jay Fulmer can’t help but admire the Cobras’ offense.

“They’re very good at what they,” Fulmer said.

What Hudson, which plays Gulf on Friday, does, is pass. A lot.

Hudsonhelmet A year ago, Cobras QB Zack Wynnthrew for 2,035 yards on 280 attempts. In last week’s preseason win over Mitchell, he completed 22 of 34 passes for 284 yards and three touchdowns, including a 38-yarder to standout WR Jamie Tello. Wynn also runs well, which gives defenses something else to think about.

“Zack gets rid of the ball in 2.5 seconds or less every time,” Fulmer said. “And he puts it on the money every single time.”

Fulmer also praised Wynn’s blockers.

“Their offensive line is very good at pass blocking,” he said. “It’s hard to get to (Wynn). Putting pressure on him is not an option.”
