Curt answer?
Now pitching for the Devil Rays … Curt Schilling?
The Red Sox ace has had harsh words for the Devil Rays in the past, especially during a feisty exchange a few years ago with former manager Lou Piniella
But now Schilling, who may be looking for a new place to play as he is a free agent after the season, is making nice, beyond giving Scott Kazmir some advice when the Rays were in Boston in July.
Schilling just raved about the Rays on his blog (38pitches.com) and on his Tuesday morning radio show on Boston's WEEI, where he also talked about how much he loves the Tampa Bay area.
Then he went even further, saying he would be interested in playing for the Rays next season. "It's one of those situations you'd certainly look at," he said.
To hear more of what Schilling said, go to the weei.com Web site. (Scroll down the index to the right of the player and click on 0:08:12 to skip to his comments about the Rays.) To read more about it, check Wednesday's Times.

I guess he doesn't know he would be playing for free or maybe Sternberg wants Schilling to pay to play here..

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm, Curt Schilling coming to the Rays is about as likely as Mark Buehrle coming to the Rays. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

we'd have mark brunell (redskins quarterback) on the ray's roster before schilling!

ATTENTION RAYS MANAGEMENT: Curt Shilling is a complete jerk and cancer in the locker room. Also, he is washed up. The thought of him spewing his right-wing hate out of the Rays clubhouse should be enough to turn any team away. Keep building with youth, not tired spent old guys!

It's been another long season for the Rays and their fans. I've decided to take a que from the organization. I will leave each game after 100 pitches, thus preventing any further mental injury to myself.

ATTENTION J:
Would it be okay if Schilling was spewing the more vitriolic LEFT WING hate? Other than your personal injection of hate speech, I agree with your sentiment on Schilling. The following is the sentence to which I refer. "The thought of him spewing his right-wing hate out of the Rays clubhouse should be enough to turn any team away."

I hope the Rays don't even consider bringing Schilling here. We don't need these young players surrounded by moronic statements. Schilling isn't innocent in this steroid era either;in fact, i think he was part of it as well. His whole bloody sock junk was way overrated too. A cortizone shot works miracles, i've had them and know that.

Unfortunately, I would have to say we should go after him. He makes a point that we have never had a proven veteran winner anywhere in our club house. Don't get me wrong, I can't stand the man but I can't stand losing either. He isn't going to make a 30 game difference but maybe a new attitude towards winning from someone who has won in the past is worth it.

Dear DFS, the point is Shilling has a track record of bringing his political views into the clubhouse. No political views, right or left, should be brought into a MLB clubhouse. This is baseball, not politics. The fact that he is a narrow minded right-wing hack only fuels the fire. As for you DFS: kiss my grits!

No way you pay the money this jerk is going to demand! You know what kind of middle relief or closer we could get for that kind of money?

People it's time to pull our collective head out of the sand. Schilling's not going to be a Ray. Isn't it obvious? The Rays ownership isn't going to pay anybody more than the bare bones minimum to play here. (And shame on Mark Topkin for even suggesting it. Smart people who follow the Rays know better than to believe there's any chance of Schilling playing here, and others who might not be as in-the-know shouldn't be fed a bunch of unrealistic bullhonkey.) The unfortunate TRUTH is, guys, the ownership lied to our face when they said payroll would go up (it went DOWN) and they'll lie again. If they say they're looking at signing certain players, just banish the thought from your mind. Don't believe the hype; don't believe the crap. The fans deserve better.

1) Curt will be a decent 3rd or 4th starter next year.
2) he's not a "cancer" in the clubhouse.
3) he is definately annoying though.
4) don't worry, he'll go to the Marlins.

Um, are all ray fans as dumb as tiki? Cause if so, I doubt schilling would want to play in tampa bay.

He's won a couple World Series. Clubhouse cancers PREVENT that from happening, they don't win World Series MVPs.
