Crist and Baker to attend stadium announcement
The Rays will have Florida Gov. Charlie Crist and St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Baker on hand for the Nov. 28 official announcement of their plans for a new stadium at the current site of Al Lang Field.
MLB President Bob DuPuy, who usually handles such matters for commissioner Bud Selig, will also attend.
The Rays will be represented by principal owner Stuart Sternberg, team president Matt Silverman and senior VP Michael Kalt, the point man in negotiations for the stadium.
The Rays plan to "announce details and renderings of a new waterfront ballpark and redevelopment of Tropicana Field.''

Stupidity reigns supreme. This facility should not be built, especially in light of the current economic climate. Leave it to Crist to never pass up a photo op. He can't do anything about property taxes and insurance but he can sure throw away taxpayer $$$ and property.

"Bob R" has been hijacked by using a period after the name. Whoever you are, stop being a pessimistic coward.
Go Rays!! Go New Ballpark!!

Will this announcement be made at Al Lang? Maybe the anti-Republican Debate rally going on next door will actually get some press.

bob r.,
you think crist likes to throw away money? rick (the stork) baker never met a developer with a ridiculous plan that he didn't want to shower with gold. he would love to give our money to the owners.
we need ac in the summertime.
we need bill evers as manager.
we need the old, superior uniforms.
we need more pitching.

I totally agree, thump thump. Actually in this economic climate and when voters get all the facts, the proposal will be "thumped" at the polls. It's a non-starter, DOA, stillborn.
