Rays-Red Sox, the sequel

Update, 6:40 The Rays announced that Saturday's game was officially a sellout, their second of the season.

----
After Friday's thrilling game, the Rays and Red Sox are back at the Trop for the second game of the series, the game is quickly approaching a sellout.
The biggest pre-game news is that David Ortiz, who was 0-for-6 on Friday, was scratched from the lineup due to a sore right knee, which he banged while sliding headfirst into first on Friday. Also, 1B Sean Casey was placed on the DL with back problems and OF Brandon Moss was called up.
The Rays were feeling pretty good on Saturday, with RHP Matt Garza saying he felt good after his return from the DL on Friday, and that he got himself untracked after a rough first two innings by cutting loose and not worrying about his arm.
RHP Al Reyes, who is scheduled to come off the DL on Thursday, is scheduled to throw an inning in a rehab game tonight for Class A Vero.
As for the lineup:
Iwamura, 2b
Crawford, lf
Upton, cf
Pena, 1b
Longoria, 3b
Hinske, dh
Gross, rf
Riggans, c
Bartlett, ss
Jackson, rhp

Red Sox

Baseball doesn't get any better:
Timely hitting, great fielding and pitching and the sweep was icing on the Trop.

The more we win, less S ux fans, more Rays fans. Stand up Rays fans & bay area residents, let's get behind the home team, we finally have an exciting & good team here in St. Pete, so let's keep this week-end mojo going and hopefully this will catapult us into a special season that's so desperately needed and deserved. I'm starving for a winner.

I think that was the loudest I heard it in the Trop on Sat. in the 9th. Trop was rocking with cowbells.

Go 1st place Rays!

Bodog

Hey Ryan
Who says the pennant is out....Our currenct lineup is as good as anybody in MLB. We're get some people back from DL in the next couple of weeks, which should make the team even stronger. I got my broom ready R-Sox fans.

M & M is candy but you are bitter chocolate and the letter before M is L and it stands for LOOSER. The BOS fans went home with their talis between their legs

let's give credit to the current management. they obviously have learned from the previous one. they are spending and taking all efforts to put up a very competitive team. and the team is doing all its best to erase its unfavorable history. the fans should support the new rays. let's not be cynical to what they have been doing. let's continue cheering them.

Keep on winning boys. You may not win a pennant this year but you might just win yourselfs a new STADIUM!
Great Series so far.GO for the sweep tomorrow!

JJ Jones

I am sure the Rays don't mind taking the Sox fan's money and sending them home as losers.

raysfan

who cares who the fans were there to see? the rays WON and the sox LOST. that little chump buchholz hung his breaking ball and it was all Aki from there on out. it doesn't matter what happens tomorrow because we've won this series, and you sawcks fans can stop and think next time before you show up at the game and root for a team who is NOT the rays. this team is not your team's stepping stone anymore so suck it up and get used to it. better yet, join the yankees fans and stay your @$$ home.

ricardo

M: Not so much to cheer about, I suppose after tonight's loss. But just wanted to get the facts right here: Rays fans out-cheered, out-clapped, out-cowbelled the competition in numbers and decibels. Maybe it sounded different on your small TV, but anyone at the game will tell you more Rays than Bosox fans tonight. Sorry.

Bodog

M is your typical Bosox fan, but you better get use to it. It's a new day in Rays baseball history. I know it's only a couple of games but the Rays of old are gone. The Rays are finally standing up to the Broadway Bullies (Yankees) and the Boys from Beantown (Red Sox).

Mark

These last 2 games are a big step for the Rays. They have proven that they belong. Of course, the greatest thing about the game tonight was all of red shirt schmucks standing is disbelief when it ended. Get used to it Boston bandwagoners, now's the time to cheer for the real home team.

Robert Henderson

M, who cares if they are there to see Boston, at the end of the game they're cheering on Percy for the save.

M

It's only a "sellout" because they give away tickets. Besides, people are there to see Boston...not so much the Rays.

raysfan

the "large father" being in a slump is always good news. now if only they'd have a reason to scratch manny...
