Haynes gone, Floyd back
The Rays activated DH Cliff Floyd after Friday's game and made room on the roster by designating for assignment OF Nathan Haynes.
Floyd, who had right knee surgery April 11, looked impressive in a workout before Friday's game. He won't start Saturday against Angels lefty Joe Saunders, but will be available to pinch-hit.
Haynes had played sparingly since the acquisition of Gabe Gross. The Rays have 10 days to trade, release or pass him through waivers to send him to Triple-A Durham.

I'm glad to have Cliff Floyd's bat back, but I hate to see Nathan Haynes go. He is an excellent fielder, a gutsy hitter, and a great teammate.
You will be missed, Haynes.

We need Floyd's bat. Hinske can then platoon RF with Gomes while using Gross as the late inning defensive replacement for them.

Gary - what is it with you and Gomes. He will not platoon with Hinske. With Floyd back Joe will have a lot of options with his Lefties, Floyd, Hinske,Pena, and Gross.

I agree with Gary. Hinske and Gomes platoon in RF, with Floyd as the DH most games.Floyd has a very poor arm for RF,and he will stay healthier just being a DH.Gross in nothing more than a backup and defensive replacement.

What is up with you and Gomes. Do you know that Gross has a better lifetime batting average than Gomes and is obviously FAR superior in right.

Gomes should only play in RF or as the DH against LHPs only.Floyd and Hinske should get the majority of ABs.I would've liked to have seen the Rays pick up recently released Jason Michaels. He would be a much better option in RF vs LHPs than Gomes.
