Glover move pending
Manager Joe Maddon said before Sunday's game that RHP Gary Glover was ready to come off the DL and that they would have to soon make a decision.
That appears to be imminent, as Glover left the clubhouse after Sunday's game clearly unhappy, and refusing comment.
Glover is flying home to Tampa rather than accompany the team to Toronto, which would seem to indicate he's not going to be rejoining the Rays, and soon could be traded or designated for assignment.
Glover is 1-2 with a 5.82 ERA in 29 games.

Glover gone is good. Balfour needs to be closing now, Percy is filling up the cardiac unit in the hospital. We DESPERATELY need Jason Bay or Matt Holliday , trade everyone but Price. I wouldn't be opposed to a trade for A.Rowand or R.Winn of SF , might be able to get them relatively cheap. We need HELP quickly or the season will be lost with the Yankees and Red Sox adding pieces to WIN. We won the first half on hustle, pitching, and defense. The hustle is falling off, the pitching is not as sharp(even though giving up more than 1 or 2 runs will lose them games), and the D is pretty much the same with Bartlett back now. Is the front office in it to win it?

Glover is just not very good. You can see the difference between him and Howell, Wheeler and Balfour.

Since we already missed out on Nady & Blake, we need to go after Jason Bay before the Braves get him. He makes $6m this year and is owed $7.5m in 2009 so he would be more than a 2 month rental.
Come on, Management, make this happen (please).

Regarding the stretch run bullpen makeup: Juan Salas and Dale Thayer are ready for action! Price is being wasted in the minors...bring him up and bump Jackson to the pen.

ROCCO! Get him up here while he is hot...before he gets hurt again! He is hitting .333, with an OBP over .400 and an OPS over 1.000!!! He is even playing the outfield. Hurry. He needs to be in St. Pete no later than Friday!

The 30 year old Aussie should be the closer. And, the third guy they got for Delmon Young, named Morlan, is the closer of the future.

Reyes is garbage. release him now.
Miller has to go too!

Balfour would make a great closer, I think we groom him this year, put him in some pressure situations and start him off next year as the closer.

Glover needed to go. You could pretty much count on him coming in and giving up 2-3 hits and a couple of runs on a consistent basis.
He's another one of these players I don't think the Rays would have kept had they realized that they were going to make a run at the playoffs this season.
He had an ERA of nearly 6.00 for crying out loud, and was paid over a million bucks this season.. outrageous!

I think it's pretty obvious that Balfour is the future closer. The guy was made for that role.

Are the Rays grooming someone at Durham or Montgomery to be the future closer, or are they just planning to convert a starter?

Why is Glover mad? He has the worst ERA on the team, so he is the most likely candidate to end up in Durham or looking for a job. Matter of fact, a couple of other guys days should be numbered as well, after Wade Davis gets his feet wet in AAA

Yeah! Hope we made a trade, but I'm sure we just DFA'ed him. Sorry man but you'll get some work elsewhere. Good luck...Rays are sure gonna need some luck too.
