Vero pitcher gets 50-game suspension
Vero Beach righthander Matt Walker has been suspended 50 games for violating baseball’s drug policy. In his case, he tested positive for amphetamines.
The 21-year-old Walker was the Rays’ 10th-round pick in 2004. In 22 appearances this season, Walker has gone 4-7 with a 4.86 ERA.
Walker is the first Rays player suspended for a violation this season; last year, LHP James Houser had a 50-game suspension that was taken care of when he was added to the 40-man roster during the offseason. RHP Juan Salas also received a 50-game ban last year.

No excuses, but, how clear is the policy on over-the-counter drugs that have amphetamines in them? Aren't some diet pills packed with amphetamines???
Maybe it was a simple mistake. Oh well. As long as Price, Neimann, and Talbot stay off the juice; I'm fine.

Judging by his numbers, it's just as likely he's using amphetamines for recreational purposes...Not that doing so is any better.

He got suspended for amphetamines, not "juice." There is a huge difference. Amphetamines give you a boost in energy. The season is long and you get tired traveling all around Florida on a bus. That's not an excuse, but they are people and they get worn out. Amphetamines have been in baseball basically as long as they've existed.

So much for the theory-no more Juice in Baseball. Some of these guys are HUGE. Hopefully, the sport will get cleaned up so Talent and clean hard work will win out.
