Baldelli: It's all good

Despite playing only five innings instead of the scheduled seven in rightfield on Friday in his final rehab game for Double-A Montgomery, OF Rocco Badelli said he felt fine and was eager for the next step.

"Everything was cool,'' he told A. Stacy Long of the Montgomery Advertiser. "It was perfect. I came out feeling good and I'm happy.''

Baldelli will fly back to Tampa on Saturday and be re-evaluated by the Rays. It is possible he could be activated off the DL for his first major-league game since May 2007. He has been sidelined since spring training due to a rare muscle fatigue condition.

If you read the other article. It says we are using six left handed bats. so that means no rocco. since longoria, bartlett and upton would be the three right hand bats.

John

Ryan,

You know what man, that's grate. Just grate. Good job.

san felipe

Is it true that Rocco Is really going to be playing tonite?

john

It goes off of your IP address, not your zip code.

rayalan

A diffeeeeent zip does not work. I have tried it two different times

David

The game is not on tv but i think their is a free trial of mlb.tv this month for five days just put a different zip so its not blacked out.

Awesome, thats all.

JeffC

I'm actually hoping (selfishly) that Rocco comes back Sunday. I have tix for that game, but today's sold out and no TV.

Rocco was the reason I started rooting for the Rays when I lived in NY and watched on Extra Innings.

Hoping this turns out to be a great story. GO ROCCO. GO RAYS!!

Bill

It would be Gomes. He will get picked up by someone else. If Baldelli fails, they'd bring up Ruggiano to fill the hole.

Tone

Who's getting sent to DL or down to make room? Gabe seems to have struggled lately, but the couple walk off wins from him earlier this season have made me like him even still. Gomes or Gabe seem to be only guys to send down. Maybe Gomes will get a hurt ankle all the sudden.

Demetrios

Hey, "spell check police", did you forget to spell your name? Besides, "its" is spelled i...t..'..s.

"taken seriously and all", what does that mean?

Also, that long rectangular key at the bottom is called a space bar. If you want to be "taken seriously and all", use it.

Ease up bro. We are just trying to have fun here.

CharlieRay

They can't send him back to the minors, He has no options, He would have to clear wavers. They could hold of for a short time for a doctors evaluation but I think you will see him as DH tomorrow.

Dave

Bring him up. This would be the jolt this team needs. Crawford, Upton and Baldelli in the outfield would make the Rays one of the best defensive outfields in the majors.

Bill

We can AFFORD to be careful with Baldelli. He's a free agent after this season......so what are they protecting? I believe him only playing 5 is a sign that they will move him up today(took him out early to make sure he's ok.) This is a NO RISK move. If they give it a shot the chances of him doing great vs. Lefty's in a part time role is very good............if he hurts himself they are no worse than they were before giving it a shot.

We need to be VERY careful with Baldelli.I would be happy if he can just come back and eventually become our full time DH.If he can return to RF.....WOW!

Hey Ryan: Tomorrow: its not that hard of a word to learn to spell,Guy! Come on,if you want to be taken seriously and all use spell check,please.Tomorrow.....

Donn

Here's hoping Rocco is back soon. This could be better than trading for that RH bat the Rays so desperately need in RF.

Ryan

This would be some hell of a story if he could come back tomarrow. I dont count on him being back tomarrow, and i expect him to spend a few more weeks in the minors. But with the sold out crowd tomarrow, the Pit could explode if hes in the linup.
