2008 postseason ticket packages may be guaranteed by placing deposits, starting at $50, on 2009 season ticket plans, and are available at raysbaseball.com or by calling 727-342-5757.

Not a mistake. If the Rays make the wild card and not win the division, hypotheitcally we could only have one game at the Trop. Let's say Anaheim wins the first two games at Anaheim. they could sweep the Rays at home in the third game and that would be that. But lets hope not!
Got my first two tickets this morning for both games here at the trop!
Go Rays!

It is when you click on the link to buy tickets from the email they sent. It gives you the option to buy Game 1 or Game 2. Then Game 2 has an *. If you look at the * lower on the page it states..."Game to be played, if necessary".
I just checked and it is still there.
But, regardless...that game would be played on 10/3...right???

I don't see the asterisk next to Game 2 you guys were referring to. Looks like they fixed it!
Posted by: Amanda | September 23, 2008 at 11:22 AM
Game 2 is sure, it's probably just a template error on the website.
Posted by: Jon | September 23, 2008 at 11:08 AM
Thanks for responding Jon. That is the calendar I had looked at. What I don't understand is why they have an * on the side of Game 2 that says if needed. According to what I've read, and keep in mind I'm a big novice here, If the Rays are in 1st, they get to pick the schedule they want. They will most likely chose to have Game 1 on Oct 1 at Home then a day off and then Game 2 on Oct 3 at home. Rather than GAme 1 and 2 back to back Oct 2 and Oct 3. Either way, they'd have Game 2 on October 3rd...right???
Sorry, my husband won the lottery and is at work...doesn't even know...so I tried my best to get him tickets, but I went for Game 2 because of schedule conflicts for Oct 1 and 2nd. I hope I made the right decision.

Sorry. Each individualized password they send to lottery winners allows them to purchase only 4 tickets under that password.

The tentative calendar is here: http://tampabay.rays.mlb.com/tb/ticketing/postseason_info.jsp
Posted by: Jon | September 23, 2008 at 10:10 AM
Novice here. Why does Game 2 say * (if needed). Why wouldn't they need a Game 2???
I tried to figure out when the games would be. Is Game 2 going to be on October 3?

These tickets are going super fast. They have only had the presale for 55 minutes and the whole upper deck and outfield are already gone. I hope they remove the tarp so we can get a TRUE SELLOUT. Big day today, come on Indians!! LETS GO RAYS!
Posted by: Kevin | September 23, 2008 at 09:55 AM
sorry Jim...that must have been what I heard. I assumed they were talking about all of the post season games. I agree, they should open them all up. Let everyone who wants tickets to have the opportunity.

Nevermind just got my answer:
Trop would lose tarp for World series
If the Rays get to the World Series, they will make about 6,000 more seats available by removing the tarps covering the top sections of Tropicana Field's upper deck.
Senior VP Mark Fernandez said Monday that a "cooperative decision" was made with Major League Baseball, though some of the seats are bench style and have semi-obstructed views.
The tarps will stay on for the first two rounds, maintaining capacity at 36,048, which the Rays feel "creates a better experience," Fernandez said. Division series tickets go on sale 9 a.m. Wednesday at raysbaseball.com, Thursday at regular-season outlets.
I would think they open them up for all playoff games, let the fans decide if they want to sit up there. Peal them back as tickets are sold. The more fans the better. Besides if you leave the tarps, people are going to be watching and say, 'Look they can't even sell out a playoff game!'

For those that did not get chosen, keep an eye on Stub Hub. Already a lot of tickets on there and I'm sure more after people who bought this morning put up the extras (since you can buy four).
Posted by: Jon | September 23, 2008 at 09:52 AM
Jim, I heard on the news this morning that they did plan to remove the tarps and open those seats.
Posted by: upper decks | September 23, 2008 at 09:51 AM
Since it looks like the normal 36,000 tickets being sold, does anyone know why they don't remove the blue tarps in the upper deck and open up what appears to be at least a couple of thousand more tickets?

Would you PLEASE send me the password? Pretty please? The passworrd is transferable. I am a huge Rays fan and am dying to get tickets for myself and my 9 year old son. These are for us, and I am not a broker or anything. Pretty please? I know you don’t know me but I would really appreciate it.

Has anyone sat in this section before? I usually buy baseline tickets, but because $$$, I went for outfield. I guess some tickets are better than no tickets :).
Posted by: How is section 140 outfield??? | September 23, 2008 at 09:26 AM
Registered with no luck here too....That's why it's a lottery, not everyone wins. I'm sure there will be seats left Wed. morning There will be another drawing from the original pool of registrants for ALCS games, and then for the ... GO RAYS!!!

I have been with the team since Tampa was awarded the franchise in 1995. I have sat through Mike Kelly, Ben Grieve, Rey Ordonez, Kevin Stocker, Ryan Rupe, Casey Fossum and many more forgettable faces. I am going to a playoff game. I will no doubt be surrounded by people who couldn't pick Aubrey Huff out of a lineup. I don't care. I am just glad to see Rays Fever has spread.

I've been a fan since the beginning. I plan to watch all Rays games that are televised on NASN which I receive via satellite here in Germany. I wish I could be in Tropicana field to see them play live. Go Rays. Win the East then go for broke. and keep on winning one gate at a time. Play like it's now or never.

So what's the password and info. to buy tickets? I didn't get an e-mail despite registering 3 different ways?
Posted by: Tim | September 23, 2008 at 05:07 AM
Yep, got my email!
Question... is Wheeler now our closer? Percival has been horrible. Haven't seen much said about this.
Posted by: Russ | September 23, 2008 at 02:41 AM
has anyone been notified if they were selected for the pre-sale yet?

If I still lived there (and if my old school Devil Rays credit card weren't invalid) ...
I would be at the Trop first thing Wednesday and I'd plunk it down for four tickets for my family!
As it is, I'll be back from Kansas City for some post-season baseball, some time, some how! :D

Ian-
Bandwagon fans are the ones who jump on the train when the team's winning. You jumped onto a sinking ship. NOT a bandwagon fan. ;)
Posted by: Amanda | September 21, 2008 at 06:36 PM
I´m a Fan since I was living in Tampa 8 years ago. It´s not easy to follow baseball here in germany, and if there some other baseball fans....they red sox or yankee fans! If I get a cheap flight, i´m coming to watch some games at the trop....in october!!!!!
Posted by: Markus Munich/Germany | September 21, 2008 at 12:21 PM
In the end of ALL teams, 99% are bandwagons.............the Yankee's in the 80s didn't draw for crap........
Posted by: Bill | September 21, 2008 at 11:27 AM
Hey Ian:
I'm pretty sure the term "bandwagon" doesn't apply to anyone who was a fan before this year...let alone 7-8 years ago. Anyway, I love the bandwagoners, they fill our stadium. (I just hope they don't buy my playoff tickets).
Go Rays!!! Let's win the East!
Posted by: Andy | September 21, 2008 at 11:15 AM
Well I have to admit I wasn't there from Day 1, I got on this bandwagon about 7 or 8 years ago.
Just wonderful to see this team win.
The spirit they display is so refreshing,it makes YOU BELIEVE!!!
