Thanks for the tune, Kevin Costner
Hey, it's nice to have friends in show biz. Actor Kevin Costner, who also sings in a band called Modern West, has recorded a song for the Tampa Bay Rays to celebrate their AL East division title.
Called It's All Up To You, the song sounds like a typical honky-tonk rocker and features such lyrics that begin, "You got to swing for the fence. Give a hundred percent. Dust yourself off. Get up and do it again."
Use the player below to listen to the complete song. Modern West and Costner played a live show in November 2007 when the Rays unveiled their redesigned uniforms.
You'll have to really concentrate to make out the Costner you remember from flicks like Bull Durham and Field of Dreams. As a rock star, Costner might make you yearn for more on-screen appearances -- and fewer on-stage ones.

DITTO TO: Show some gratitude. Is this how you treat someone who shows his support? Costner doesn't need the Rays to boost his career!!! Do you actually think all of those people (especially women)showed up last year to see the unveiling of the new Rays uniform?!! I know I didn't. Costner was the attraction!

I hope I never hear this at a Rays game. I think a much better idea would be for the team to hold an open competition for local musicians and bands to come up with a song to commemorate. I bet someone out there could come up with something to rival the old, "Hey, hey Tampa Bay, the Bucs know how to shine," song!

You guys need to be appreciative of what he did. He didnt have to do this for the Rays, he was just being nice and showing his support for the team. It doesnt horribly suck, its not great, but back off people. If all you have is negative things to say, take them somewhere else!

glad to see how appreciative some fans are. Geesh!
Costner wasn't going for Grammy here. He's a fan of the Rays and took time to write. compose and record a song for the Rays. Show some damn appreciation here!
How many Celebrities have done that for other teams?
Thanks Kevin!!!!

Cliche after cliche....this song sounds like every speech my coaches gave me throughout my life. We don't need another thing for people to make fun of us Rays fans after. Go get'em Crash Davis!

This sounds like one of those 80's movies songs played during a beach scene. Either that, or that awesome SNL bit with Chris Farley and Adam Sandler where they end up at a gay pool party.

Crash/Billy/Ray/Roy,
We love you and appreciate your support, but please don't quit your day job. That song made we want to jump out into traffic with the exception of the play by play sound bites. Sorry, dude. Just being honest.

It doesn't completely suck, generic country / blues / rock chunker. Nice touch using the radio announcers.
