Flud--good theory but no dice. I did exactly the same thing. Specified game 2 and upper deck infield. NO TICKETS. This was at 9:00:20

hey all, I am a troll with no allegiance to anything but making my rent payment and trying to get a few dollars in my pocket to make up my delinquent child support and rent!

Had a completely different experience with tickets. Logged in at 9 a.m. and searched for a pair of seats. Got the usual, "You have 2 minutes to purchase these seats or they'll be released" message. Forgot my Ticketmaster password -- not the playoff password the team sent -- entered incorrect logins, not once but twice, and had to have a new password e-mailed to me. Still I managed to get those seats.
Why did I succeed? Not sure, but here's what I did, and it may be something for you all to consider for future games:
-- First I ordered for Game 2, because that was the game I wanted. But that probably worked in my favor because tickets for Game 1 were probably disappearing quicker.
-- Also, I ordered for a specific seating area. I read a comment or two in which someone claimed to have a long wait for "best available." Not only is that a much broader search, but with tickets going as quickly as they were, the system was probably having to constantly recalibrate what was best available, the sort of thing that can lock a search engine up for 14 minutes. Also, I would guess "best available" doesn't necessarily mean that multiple seats would be next to each other.
Anyway, just some thoughts. Hope you true blue Rays fans get to see the team play in postseason at the Trop this year.

Hey whining Rays fan... where were you this season??? I sat in the trop and barely anyone there! So go cry about the playoffs situation elsewhere! Oh and by the way.... thanks for paying my rent by buying tickets on ticket sites

Me at my worst: Floridians are a bunch of hillbillies.
"in-kind response": Repeated threats of violence, pedophilia references, multiple "jokes" involving bodily functions.
Not quite the same. Hillbillies.
Sox in 5.

Fair enough! Let's have a great series! Play Ball! :-)

Anthony-
I can't condone some of my fellow Rays fans' behavior on this board, but you have to admit that for the most part the Sox fans leapt at us with some rather uncalled for hostility. Granted you've calmed down a bit, but you were guilty at first there, too.
I'm not saying two wrongs make a right, but if we're going to be attacked by people acting like complete a-holes (not all of you, of course), then people are going to respond in-kind.
This is just my humble opinion, so take it for what it's worth: The Rays do not "own" the Red Sox. The Red Sox do not "own" the Rays. It was a tough fought battle between the two all season, and it will continue that way in the playoffs. Both teams do, however, "own" the rest of the AL. We've got two amazingly talented clubs here. Honestly, I don't feel that I can predict the series outcome, other than the fact that it will be a LONG series, and probably hit seven games. Further, Floridians are not uneducated rednecks (ok, some of us are). Bostonians are not crass and arrogant jerkoffs (ok, some of you are). We're all fans of an AWESOME freakin team, no matter which side we're on.
So let's all knock off the threats, the cracks on who-lives-where, the making fun of mascots and traditions. Let's talk baseball. Pitching, hitting power, base running speed, cannons for arms in the outfield. Baseball. After all, isn't that what October is really about?
Alright, I'm off my soapbox now.

Ron M, I'm not in FL and you're not on the Rays. Dropping acid in the middle of the day will get you nowhere, young man
Fake Sox Fan:
"only we is the ones"
That is some "Florida grammar" for you.
Trash talking is a harmless part of sports fandom. Threats of violence, self-urination fantasies, and pedophilia references are apparently part of Florida sports fandom, if this blog is any indication.
Posted by: Anthony | October 07, 2008 at 02:23 PM
stay classy rays fans ... only we is the ones that come on to an opponent's blog and trash talk
Posted by: Sox Fan | October 07, 2008 at 02:17 PM
Yes, Anthony, we do own your Red Sux. We, The Rays have beat the Red Sux 7 out of the last 9 games which says We own you now, you pathetic worm! If you can't stand the heat, go back to the cesspool in Boston. We don't need you down here. NA NA NA NA, NA NA NA NA, HEY HEY HEY, GO-OD BYE!
Posted by: Ron M | October 07, 2008 at 02:04 PM
Well...I made my tidy $150 profit on the tickets. Thank you very much Rays.
Posted by: Chuck | October 07, 2008 at 01:54 PM
Stay classy, Rays fan.

I like "beating the meat" of li'l boys.
Posted by: Sox Fan | October 07, 2008 at 12:48 PM
Have you ever heard of the expression "beating a dead horse" down there in FL, fake Anthony?
Posted by: Sox Fan | October 07, 2008 at 12:38 PM
That's right FAKE ANTHONY! I am a real, live person up here in New England that has such an empty existence that I spend my day on the blog of a team that scares the crap out of me.
Did I mention that I am all of 5'3" and 310 lbs? [Maaaahm makes some wicked good chowdaah] So take that pencil neck comment and stick it where the cowbell don't ring!

Anthony-
Hey, some people need it spelled out...
Posted by: Amanda | October 07, 2008 at 12:16 PM
"He's making fun of Red Sox fans."
Really?
Posted by: Anthony | October 07, 2008 at 12:15 PM
Raymond,
"Sox Fan since 2004" was a joke. He's making fun of Red Sox fans.
Posted by: Amanda | October 07, 2008 at 11:59 AM
Dear Sox Fan since 2004 (bandwagoner)...Anthony and all the sux fans like him are why you are hated...More freakin' annoying cowbell in red sux fan's ears...
Posted by: Raymond | October 07, 2008 at 11:57 AM
Nice try fake Anthony, but there's no such thing as "Captain D's" up here in the NE - or as you call it, "fancy college learnin' land."
Posted by: Anthony | October 07, 2008 at 11:44 AM
ROOT FOR THE HOME TEAM
Posted by: Common Sense | October 07, 2008 at 11:40 AM
Hey Rays fans,
I don't care how big of a-holes these pseudo-Sox Fans are being. Threatening violence is neither cool nor classy. Come on, now...
Posted by: Amanda | October 07, 2008 at 11:40 AM
Kelly, I'll be the little pencil-necked geek that gets beaten down in a puddle of piss in the men's latrine at Ferg's since this little part-time gig at Captain D's doesn't pay a HS dropout out too well.
But hey, I just bought this neato yellow Jacoby Pedroia jersey that I wear with my green hat so at least it will match the urine stains.
PS) I am a tough guy on the blogs and will just cower in the corner and wet myself if someone raised their voice to me.
Posted by: Anthony | October 07, 2008 at 11:35 AM
Misleading headline. The games are NOT sold out. Check out stub-hub. What a crock. Where'd those tix come from? Right from the Rays office.
Posted by: | October 07, 2008 at 11:30 AM
whay are you all feeding into Anthony's poor attempt to heckle??? Leave the poor baby alone to jerk off to his Big Papi dolls that he cut holes in to simulate a woman...GO RAYS
Also, I have 2 extra tickets to game 2 section 135 if interested...

The borderline illiteracy gives you away, fake Anthony.
Kelly, I have the tickets you were trying to buy. Watch for me on TV, I'll be the one laughing hysterically because one of TB's bush league pitchers got mad that someone made a face and put the winning run on with a HBP.
Posted by: Anthony | October 07, 2008 at 11:22 AM
I also was told I could get tickets, that proved to be impossible. I wish I could have gotten at least 2, but I tried.
Posted by: Barbara | October 07, 2008 at 11:22 AM
I resent the hostility towards Sox fans. We are so loyal to our team and all we get is disrespect from Rays fans.
I live in FL, have never even seen fenway but Im still a fan. I've had to endure winning season after winning season. I root for this team purely because it is fashionable. My team wins 2 World Series in about 100 years and all of a sudden we are a "nation" of fans, parading around our ignorance and lack of knowledge.
You Sox fans are pathetic, you show up in the trop and cause fights, get tased in the forehead and pretend like your loyalty isn't paper thin. Half of you Sox fans even knew the heartbreak I've had to endure as Rays season ticket holder, you would be a little more appreciative of your situation. Your bandwagoners. You don't even know who pudge fisk is, most of you havent even been around for the Nomar era, and even shamefully most of you haven't even been out of FL. Grow up. Root for the home team, not the team where your grandparents grew up, or the team that it takes absolutely Zero effort to root for. Be a part of something. Stop raising your kids to be just like everyone else....

you should see how I celebrate with my varitek & big papi dolls after a win ... not fit for public view I promise you
Posted by: Anthony | October 07, 2008 at 11:11 AM
I had a password to buy tickets to game 1 & 2. I logged on at 8:55 and repeatedly refreshed my page until the tickets went on sale. I typed in my password, tried to buy best available, and was told none were left. This was at 9 a.m. Not even a minute had expired.
What's the deal Rays?
Posted by: Kelly | October 07, 2008 at 11:06 AM
Keep your "Deliverance" fantasies to yourself, Rik.
Posted by: Anthony | October 07, 2008 at 11:03 AM
I sincerely hope that your car breaks down on US19 on the way to the game in some place like Dixie County and a few of the locals go to work on you with a blow torch and a set of pliers.
Posted by: Rik @ 2:25am | October 07, 2008 at 11:02 AM
You idiots act as if stubhub is the only mechanism for selling tickets. Boston money + unemployed locals who stumbled into tickets = "let's go red sox" haunting your nightmares
BTW if any Rays players are watching this, I know it was shocking to win something last night but you should really try to figure out how a post-series celebration works, your attempts were just embarrassing.
Posted by: Anthony | October 07, 2008 at 10:59 AM
The Trop will not be Fenway South this time, baby. Even if all the Sox buy up StubHub, that's only 3,000 tickets (<10%). There were a total of 25 White Sox fans at Games 1 and 2. Red Sox may fill up a couple thousand seats, but it won't be like the regular season. That's my prediction - let's see how it goes.
Also, we started a petition to remove the Tarps. Sign it here is you want to try to get more seats opened up.

Hey Rik, I will be looking for you. Got a can of you know what for you!
Posted by: steve | October 07, 2008 at 10:41 AM
"We own you this year."
Wow, a 10-8 season series, that is some tenuous "ownership." LAA was 8-1 during the regular season, look how far that got them.
I'd explain to you why things don't look good for TB in the ALCS but given how fast you're selling us your home tix, it doesn't seem like many of you care anyway.
Posted by: Anthony | October 07, 2008 at 10:28 AM
Guess what Red Sux Nation? That's right. We own you this year. We beat you 4 out of the last 6 games so we've got your number. The only celebrating Anthony will be doing is the relatively successful year the Red Sux had until LOSING to the RAYS. Hope you had to bleed for your tix! GO RAYS!
Posted by: Ron M | October 07, 2008 at 10:24 AM
I know its expensive, but people this is a once in a lifetime experience. If a broke college student can squeeze these tickets, you all can. We pay less than 11 dollars a game to see them play all year and now since tickets aren't $9, all you sad fans are shocked. This is the ALCS, we should just be happy to be able to buy tickets.
Posted by: Common Sense Bill | October 07, 2008 at 09:51 AM
Stay classy, EYSA.
Fred, security won't let you down into my section, so I'll have to meet you in the street after the game. Just stand in the middle of a group of celebrating Sox fans and wave your little Rays pennant so I can find you.
Posted by: Anthony | October 07, 2008 at 09:44 AM
There is NO WAY that 425,000 actual people signed up for the lottery. That means 1/4 of the entire Tampa Bay area wanted to buy tickets. Clearly scalpers had signed up for this to increase their chances.
Any real fan would have already been in a season ticket plan. I've been buying a 20-game pack for 2 years and i have every possible playoff game.
To those whining that they have to work or travel alot, so does everyone. The Rays make it easy to exchange tickets, and you can always- gasp- scalp them!
Posted by: Alex | October 07, 2008 at 09:40 AM
Hey Sox Fan
What section do you sit in at Fenway? I will be glad to stop by during games 3&4 (game five won't be needed since the Rays will sweep).
Posted by: Fred | October 07, 2008 at 09:39 AM
Hey Anthony!
Anuybody I see in Sox gear (minus women and children) will be very unhappy if you cross paths with me and my group. You will either:
A. Get spit on
B. Get soaked with some liquid.
C. Get a%@ kicked
D. Get ejected from the game - trust me.
GO RAYS REPUBLIC!
Posted by: Eat your Spinach Anthony | October 07, 2008 at 09:34 AM
"By the way there are plenty of seats available on stub hub for the games in Boston."
Yeah I'm sure those will be snatched right up by Rays fans, LOL
Posted by: Sox Fan | October 07, 2008 at 09:33 AM
Think of it this way. Most Rays fans will be sitting there with tickets which they paid face value for. Any Boston fans will be sitting there with scalped tickets which they paid a large premium for. When the Rays win we get double the satisfaction of beating them and their wallets into submission. By the way there are plenty of seats available on stub hub for the games in Boston.
Posted by: Fred | October 07, 2008 at 09:28 AM
First you cry nobody goes to the game, then you cry you can not get tickets. Amzing that people can find ways to complain about anything. Be happy OUR RAYS are still playing and the Yanks are not and the RED SOX only have 4 games left in their season. GO RAYS, and go buy season tickets and you would not have this problem.
Posted by: Jason | October 07, 2008 at 09:23 AM
I've got two outfield seats - section 145, row VV.
$150 on Stubhub.
Posted by: Chuck | October 07, 2008 at 09:22 AM
Reading some of the comments some of you guys have gone thru buying tickets is so sad that u cant get them maybe cause ticket master or the rays front office has some type of deal with that ticket stub company it really bothers me, maybe cause I really love Baseball , see I been living here in Atlanta since 1996 the year I started to like this beautiful game , coming from Mexico where the big sport is soccer , we went to Tampa for a church convention in 1998 and went to my first devil rays game I even got a t shirt from the grand opening or some thing like that , I got some stickers for the car windows from the devil rays , and after 98 I been there in 2001 took the pic on that sit where the wade Boggs 3,000 hit home run landed and went to see the rays play the Yankees in 2005 I think I guess after the braves the rays is my other team, I really hope they win the world series they have a great team! Is so sad and makes me angry that some of you fans loooong suffering fans now cant experience the alcs cause the tickets are “gone” now it really sucks and in my opinion you should let the rays front office know , that’s not nice lack of loyalty to the fan! FROM ATLANTA GO RAYS!!!!!!
