Rays to remove tarps for games 6, 7
The Rays announced today they will remove the tarps on upper-level seats, making 5,762 more tickets available if the ALCS goes to Game 6. The seats, mostly with obstructed views of the field, haven't been sold for previous games this season. "Interest in Rays postseason tickets was extraordinary," team president Matt Silverman said in a statement. "Although the seating capacity we established provides optimal fan experience, Rays fans have made it very clear that they want us to make every possible seating opportunity available." Tickets will go on sale Wednesday to those who won the right through the team's postseason ticket lottery. Those eligible to purchase will be determined by lottery and notified by e-mail. Fans still can sign up for the potential lottery for World Series tickets at raysbaseball.com. Those who previously registered do not need to do so again.

this lottery thing sucks. all the bandwagoners are jumping on just like they did when the lightning were good and when the bucs were winning playoff games. this is twice that i didnt get picked for the lottery. sorry lifelong rays fans, but your just gonna have to watch new rays fans steal tickets from us.

I predict we'll need game 6, but not 7. I can't see us sweeping up in Boston, but two out of three will definitely get the job done. Come back to St. Pete up 3-2, and take the title in front of the home crowd.

Also, don't pay the high prices to the brokers, stubhub, ebay, craigslist, etc. I went to game one Friday and bought 2 lower levels for face value $30 each an hour before the game in front of Ferg's. The ticket sellers were fighting over me the buyer and not the other way around. Screw the profiteers! Go Rays!

Will we actually need a game 6 & game 7 ... the Red Sox were peeing their pants when we kept hammering them in games 2 & 3. If we get the knuckleballer early tonight it will be all over but the crying. All they'll have is their "Yankes Suck" chants and that stupid Matt Damon! How do you like those apples!

"No matter that if you cared about the team at all you would already have a ticket package or a deposit for next year and have every game in hand."
Yeah, because every fan can afford that. Nice logic, pal.

GO RAYS

The Rays tried to make decent seating available to all by covering those seats. Now once these open and people realize how bad they are, they'll just accuse the team of having uncovered them just to make money. Not because so many idiots whined. That will be forgotten.
I'm so tired of all the whining it almost makes me wish the Rays weren't doing so well. Games and commentary afterward/inbetween used to be fun (even if we did suck). Now it's just trash talking and whining. Such a shame for a team of young kids who've shown so much class while representing a region that clearly has none.

All your friends will think you're cool because you got tickets to the Rays game.
No matter that if you cared about the team at all you would already have a ticket package or a deposit for next year and have every game in hand.
Bandwagoners are good for making noise I guess, so welcome to the stadium.

Just don't complain when you pay $100+ for a ticket in a seat that is blocked by the catwalks or whatever else is hanging from the top of the dome.
I've sat in those seats before, and they were not worth even $12. I couldn't see anything where I was. Would have been better off at home watching on TV.
Have fun.

what're the odds that a cranky subset of the fans complaining about the bad seats, how hard it is to park and get in\out of the stadium, and the longer lines now that an additional 5,500+ fans are in the mix?

We went through this with last games. Season tix holders dont have huge blocks of tickets like you're seeing on SH right now.
If someone's selling their extra seats (1 per holder) that's fine--but that's not what's up there now.

The REAL questions are.........why were they not uncovered for the other playoff games, and who was the sub genius who made that decision?
Posted by: Steve | October 14, 2008 at 04:52 PM
There are game six tickets on StubHub because anyone with season ticket priority/season ticket deposits already has Game Six/Seven tickets in hand.

4:33 - why shouldn't there be? Folks who ponied up for 11 post-season games back in early September received their tix long ago.
Posted by: Dave | October 14, 2008 at 04:48 PM
How come there are already game 6 tix up on stubhub?
Posted by: | October 14, 2008 at 04:33 PM
hopefully there won't be a game 6 or 7!

FYI the emails are going out Wednesday morning and the tickets go on sale at 5pm...
"Winners will be notified by email Wednesday morning, and the special internet pre-sale will begin at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. Any remaining tickets will go on-sale at raysbaseball.com, at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, if available."
This is only for game 6. Game 7, if necessary, will be separate.

I'd like to think our petition had a little something to do with it, but I doubt it. Regardless, I am happy that they made this move. Now, just wait until posters join these forums and talk about how they paid their hard earned dollars for a seat with a partially obstructed view ;) You know it's going to happen. Go Rays!!!
FYI - I just saw the Rays bus pull out of their hotel in Boston. They'll be at Fenway in 1 minutes. The team looked very relaxed.
