Red Sox think Rays are overRAYted
At least according to a T-shirt now being sold by a Boston fan site, chowdaheadz.com. Wonder how many of these will show up at the Trop?

Can you smell the baked beans burning yet, mixed with the sour sweat of the desperation of Red Sox Nation? Heh.
Posted by: MikeD | October 14, 2008 at 08:31 AM
stupid.
Red Sox suck. They have no cool players.
Loserish.

"...so I suggested to the Boston fan that the ball should come this way and hit him in the mouth. He didn't expect that from an old broad, so he shut up..."
Love it! Go get 'em, girl!

Was so happy to get tickets to the Saturday night game...Thank you to whomever came up with the " second chance' offer...this time I did get tickets...base line box at that..
Unfortunately do did a whole lot of Sox fans.. Two beside me were very nice, others were so obnoxious, rude, loud, insulting...I thought I went into a time warp and was back in New York..uh.New yorkers can be obnoxious, but we at least have a sense of humor.
By the way, I'm a very ex yankees fan, have been a Rays fan for 5 years.
Back to Boston..two punks kept yelling "hit him in the mouth" when Bartlett was up at bat...so I suggested to the Boston fan that the ball should come this way and hit him in the mouth. He didn't expect that from an old broad, so he shut up...later on security caught up with him for the fight he tried to start with other Rays fans..
I am looking forward to this headline: RAYS UNRAVEL RED SOX, HEAD TO WORLD SERIES. Yeah!

Ask the red sux if tampa is overated after getting beat down 9-1 tonight!!!!

I'm a troll, all I do all day is pimp tickets, I have no life

Oh, really, John? Like this article? http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2008/10/09/rays_fans_finally_catch_on_theyve_got_a_good_thing/ basically comparing the fanbase here to a bunch of stupid hicks who didn't know what we had? Or how about this one: http://people.boston.com/forums/sports/redsox/onthefrontburner/?p=discussiondetails&activityid=5719381680889421945 where the Sox fans are less inclined to think their team is vulnerable than you.
C'mon, John, that BS you feed us is a joke. You people from Boston never have respected us and our team and never will. Enjoy the ALCS, because in the end, there will be no Pennant in Boston, that's for damn sure!
Posted by: Jimbo | October 09, 2008 at 02:54 PM
I still prefer my t-shirt I bought on line. "Red Sux". I was amazed at the number of websites that offer it. Seems like most of the country, along with us, dislike northeast teams like the cheater Patriots and the overpaid empire. GO RAYS - depress Boston like you did Chicago.
Posted by: mike | October 09, 2008 at 02:19 PM
Hey folks, most people, the majority of sports fans in Boston do not think the Rays are overrated. The company selling that shirt is just trying to make money. Log on to one of the three Boston sports radio stations (WEEI is all local) and just listen to the fans. We know that the Rays took the season series. We know the Red Sox are banged up. Read our papers, much like I am reading yours.

Wow, I know the Star Trek convention got potponed, but I hope these games don't interfere with that big Dungeons and Dragons showdown that was happening this weekend. If so, we may not see ANY Red Sox fans at the game! Hopefully their mom's bought some extra chicken nuggets for all the guys comin' over to the basement. They might get hungry when they see what a real TEAM (not a bunch of overpriced players) will do when they play as ONE team!

Cellar dweller status is generally reserved for those who think the same joke is funny after it's been used literally dozens of times.
"give my congrats to you guys"
If the Rays win, I will. Don't hold your breath though. If you guys knew much about baseball you wouldn't be nearly as cocky.
Posted by: Anthony | October 08, 2008 at 09:00 PM
nice try fake Anthony . . . we're really not afraid of you rays and I promise to even stop by and give my congrats to you guys after you beat us ... or I could retreat to my mom & dad's basement and reconvene with my greasy Manny blowup doll and never be seen again, but that's another story
Posted by: Anthony | October 08, 2008 at 06:41 PM
Yuk it up, fake Anthony. Enjoy your optimism before it turns into Lackey-esque post-smackdown whining.
Posted by: Anthony | October 08, 2008 at 06:26 PM
seriously guys, I really don't like people hijacking my name in a blog . . . probably wouldn't have to deal with this if I just kept my mug out of here instead of getting beat down but that is a different story
Can someone please show me where Boston, MA is on the map?
Posted by: Anthony | October 08, 2008 at 03:40 PM
Is it still April or something?
Posted by: Eric | October 08, 2008 at 03:34 PM
Just think of how ReTAHded they'll look wearing those stupid shirts.
Posted by: | October 08, 2008 at 02:37 PM
it's kinda cute and catchy. but the most short sighted and naive citizens of Red Sox Nation can't possibly think WE are going to roll over and play dead. ballgame or barroom brawl, we don't back down and we will kick your a** if you underestimate us.
Posted by: fork | October 08, 2008 at 01:16 PM
how about this on a shirt:
HEY BAHSTAN!
WE LEARNED HOW TO WIN NOW ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS LEARN HOW TO TALK.
Posted by: david | October 08, 2008 at 01:07 PM
overRAYted? riiiight. with our huge payroll. high lofty pre season expectations and super stars at every position. overachievers maybe. over rated. are you kidding? make a shirt that makes some dang sense.

Still only 94 signatures. Looks like there are not that many folks that want the Tarps off. Tell your friends, we need to raise this issue more vocally. Maybe we can get them to lift the Tarps if there is a Game 6/7 of the ALCS! Marc, et al, is this petition newsworthy?

Hey Ricki,
I see a Rays/Phils WS. Sorry, but in case you forgot, the Red Sox and the Rays can't play each other in the WS. Have you ever been to Boston anyway?
I've been a season ticket holder for 4 years now, so no bandwagon-talk here! Forget the chowdaheadz from Beantown; they'ah just in owah way. We're gonna cream them and move on to the City of Brotherly Love, where the real fight is!
GO RAYS!!!
Posted by: Jimbo | October 08, 2008 at 08:20 AM
For baseball to make us forget about race, class, and gender--if just for one day--does make it about us. Tampa Bay, we can have no tolerance for attacks on our unity come this Friday. Go Rays! Go Tampa Bay!
Posted by: Brian J | October 08, 2008 at 12:29 AM
BostonRedsoxFan, that "look at me, I'm someone else" stuff wasn't that funny the first time someone did it today; it's downright embarrassing the fiftieth time.
Posted by: Anthony | October 07, 2008 at 10:48 PM
I can't wait until Friday to watch Game 1 in my parents' basement.
Posted by: BostonRedsoxFan | October 07, 2008 at 10:35 PM
Dodgers or Phils to play the Boston.
Who you picking?
Posted by: Red Sox Ricki | October 07, 2008 at 09:28 PM
Forget all this nonsense! "PLAY BALL".
Posted by: Joisey | October 07, 2008 at 07:28 PM
Ray Fans,
You have no idea about is going to happen to you. The BOSTON BEATDOWN starts Friday. I hope you are ready. Glad to see everyone come out of the woodworks. Boston will win in 4 games, maybe 5.
Posted by: BostonRedsoxFan | October 07, 2008 at 05:39 PM
Wow, hatred?!? We don't even hate the Yankees. Like the Rays players spraying their own lockers with champagne last night, I think you're all a little confused about how this works.
You do understand that ultimately, none of this baseball stuff has anything to do with you, don't you? And that chowdaheadz.com is just a website run by one or two guys? Get a grip.
Posted by: Anthony | October 07, 2008 at 05:39 PM
maybe on the back it says, "but seriously, those guys beat us head to head, took the last 2 series of the season, played a harder schedule, and finished with a better record than us"
....nah, too much reading for "chowdaheadz"
Posted by: skp | October 07, 2008 at 05:36 PM
Here's the link to the site. Buy one and feel the hate!!!

I bought a shirt from a site the advertised on draysbay.com. It says BUCK FOSTON. I wear it to any Rays Function... Including Rays vs Sux games!!!
Get one and show your hatred for the Nation!!!
Go Rays Republic!!!
Buck Foston!!!
Posted by: Ray F | October 07, 2008 at 05:31 PM
yeah, we're so dumb that we'll buy those shirts because obviously if you guys are overrated then we're gutless underperformers
Posted by: Sox Fan | October 07, 2008 at 05:12 PM
Love it, Amanda. Now, let's make it true....
Posted by: 9equals8.com | October 07, 2008 at 05:10 PM
Or there is always our own response. I ordered this shirt a week ago, but unfortunately it's backordered. Rumor has it that the Red Sox organization wasn't too happy with this one.

Bring it! Do not sit next to one really charged up RAYS fan named REX in Sox gear.
You won't have any fun, I promise.
Posted by: Rex | October 07, 2008 at 05:00 PM
Time to Smackback!
Don't just sit there and wallow...smack'em.
ONE WAY!
TAMPA BAY
All the Way!
Posted by: Smack Back | October 07, 2008 at 04:59 PM
Let them enjoy all the media talk about their return to the WS and how the Manny story is going to be a big one. The Rays will just keep going about their business and give these guys a run for their money.
Can't blame the T-shirt guy. He knows his fan base will pony up for those ridiculous shirts and he'll make a nice profit. Go Rays!
Posted by: 9equals8.com | October 07, 2008 at 04:57 PM
What would Frantz Fanon do, Rays fans? Time to rise.
Posted by: Brian J | October 07, 2008 at 04:49 PM
So then what does it say that they were beat heads up by an "overRAYted" team? What abunch of classless goons.
