Mr. Maddon going to Washington

UPDATE, 8:40: Maddon confirmed that he was invited to the White House, that author George Will had something to do with setting it up, and that he was eager for the experience.

Haven't crossed paths with Joe Maddon yet in the vast expanse of the Bellagio, but he told Mike DiGiovanna of the LA Times that he has been invited to the White House for a Jan. 4 dinner with President and Laura Bush.

Maddon is supposed to get more details soon, but he gets to bring along new wife Jaye Sousoures, and are likely to be joined by five other invited couples.

If Maddon had any respect for the 4,000 soldiers that have lost their lives due to the Liar he would graciously reject this invitation.

Be still my heart. I thought from the headline he was going to coach in Washington.

Give George W a razzberry, and hug Laura for me
