Crawford has words with Burrell in clubhouse
LF Carl Crawford loudly confronted DH Pat Burrell in the Rays clubhouse before batting practice Wednesday, prompting manager Joe Maddon to meet privately with both players.
"It was nothing,'' Maddon said. "Honestly I talked to both parties, everything's good.''
Crawford declined to elaborate; Burrell was not available pre-game.

Burrell had gone out the night before trolling for drunk girls like he used to do at the 20th Street Irish Pub back in Philly (and The Varsity Club in Palm Harbor) and Carl was pissed that he didnt get the invite.

If you're gonna write this story at least try to identify what they were squawkin about.
Burrell's agent only gets 2% of his slary and Crl's gets 5?
C'mon!!

HappyHour: Agreed. Gomes is a great role player and a great clubhouse presence. Also, economical which fits the payroll. Chemistry and defense has hurt the Rays.

There is nothing worse than pettiness.
I hate this. I have tickets for the rest of the home games and I don't like this high-school stuff. I can go up the street to the local h.s. if I want to hear about this kind of candy-a** garbage.
CC is our All-Star MVP and I have brought signs to celebrate his victories. PBurrell always seems to try and did well the other night. Why would they fight? Aren't we "one team?"
Please don't do this guys.

Maddon creates these situations by holding no one responsible for their performance....finally someone like CC can't take it anymore and words fly..
Mr nice guy stuff only goes so far especially when losing starts...
Only 4-5 players have been trying hard all year..others are on a "ride"!

Carl probably misses his buddy Jonny Gomes who the Rays threw away and is now playing for the Reds.
20 hr's in 254 at bats. Home run every 12.7 AB. Hitting .272, .899 OPS making 1.275 million and was the chemistry guy in the clubhouse, emotional leader...replaced by...Pat Burrell, 14HR, in 378 AB (hr every 27AB) .713 OPS making 7 million! Now we see... not adding much chemistry! Ouch!

Too bad what happens in the clubhouse doesn't stay in the clubhouse.

Maddon would always have you believe the spin, but there is no way he has this clubhouse under control. Too many incidents prove otherwise, and how could you have their pulse, when you keep letting the same guys pen members lose starters wins, and keep playing non productive players instead of productive players, and now you still don't play Joyce, and others to see value for next year, instead playing 40 yr old pitchers and 35 yr old journeyman 1B who won't be here. Durham winning playoffs is more important than developing players for 2010? It is what it is, I hope AF secretly despises Maddon and finds a way to get rid of him if they fail again in 2010...

It's easy to see why CC and "do nothing" got into it. CC has worked hard all year and he sees Burrell playing on a daily basis and doing zilch, yet he starts all the time and clueless Maddon defends him!!

Burrell was probably walking around the clubhouse crowing about his "big" 4 RBI game yesterday and Carl, who's watched this guy do pretty much squat all year, decided to tell him to shut the frak up.
Carl would be crazy to come back to this team.

Yet another sign of this "team's" demise. When players silently bicker, that's one thing but now that some of that is finally coming out in the open, it is cause for concern, regardless the spin that Maddon attempts to throw around. The importance of chemistry is debatable but it is painfully obvious (to me) that there isn't much in the way of chemistry with this group.
