Tampa Bay Rays C Dioner Navarro (left elbow) and OF Fernando Perez (left shoulder) have surgery; both expect to be ready for spring training

Tampa Bay Rays catcher Dioner Navarro underwent surgery in late October to stablize an ulnar nerve in his left elbow, but he's expected to be ready for Spring Training, the Rays said Monday.

The Rays also said that OF Fernando Perez underwent successful surgery in early October on his left shoulder to repair his labrum, a procedure similar to the one B.J. Upton had last offseason. Perez is expected to be back to play in the spring.

Simple solution here. Navi hits 100 points better right handed. Why is he switch hitting. This is one of Maddon's "duhhhh" moments.

they need to get a LEGIT starting catcher --- Navvy is a ham & egger

We all know that Navi had a so-so year. Must have been the elbow.

I watched the game when Perez hurt his wrist, didn't know the shoulder was bothering him also. His speed and power will be a factor next year.

skp

perez was a nice story during our world series run and i was rooting for him, but between his injuries, lack of pop, and the ascendancy of hollins and joyce, he missed his window on having much of a rays career; that's too bad, i really like his speed but we've got too many good young OFs in the system and he's probably not as valuable as kapler in a backup role
