Home value declines radically different in Tampa Bay area neighborhoods
The firm Zillow has done the dirty work for us and compiled neighborhood-by-neighborhood home value declines for our area over the past year.
I did a quick scan and learned that some of our best known neighborhoods are worst hit value wise: Clearwater Beach, New Tampa, Seminole Heights, Tierra Verde and northeast St. Petersburg. Places like Bayshore in Tampa have held up a bit better.
If you want to dig deeper, I'm providing a spread sheet file listing scores of neighborhoods and their relevant housing statistics. Click on the tabs at bottom of file to choose categories.

(Un)Real Estate offers a peek at the housing market usually reserved for insiders. While it focuses on the Tampa Bay area, it won't neglect dipping
into the rest of Florida and beyond. Its goal? Simple: To help you keep a roof over your head without losing your shirt.
Every voter in this state with skin in the real estate game needs to get behind the 1.35% initiative now. That should be just about every voter.

I don't trust Zillow.com---when I looked up my house (single family residence), they have condo's as comparables. A house sold in my neighborhood (about 3-4 blocks away) for a decent price and zillow.com doesn't list it as a comparable.

Youre using zillow as the basis of this blog??? Are you kidding? Zillow's numbers are horrible. According to them, my house, with he improvements we've made, should be valued in the 200's., I would be lucky to be ale to sell my house for 150k. You should really dig deeper into the validity of sources that you base your opinions on.

I don't use Zillow as the "basis for this blog". I merely list it as one source in many that people can consult to make sense of the market. If you find it flawed, by all means discount their information. It's always best to study your own street and neighborhood yourself if you plan to buy/sell a house. I wouldnt' trust a national source without double checking.

It wasn't really accurate for the SPT's to report values decreased 18.4% in Spring Hill according to Zillow. Zip code 34607 did drop 18.4%, but that is waterfront area of Hernando county-Hernando Beach & Weeki Wachee. Spring Hill is east of US 19, and didn't fair as poorly as the water stuff along coast west of US 19 and south of SR 50 (zip-34607).
