If you think there's nowhere to dance in St. Petersburg that isn't an "ultra-lounge", you have just been proven wrong. Both the Uptown and the Emerald have opened up new nights to cater to those of you who like to move a little more.
Do you like bright flashing lights? Do you have a tendency to move your arms around in motions that flow with the beat of an electro song? Then Tuesdays at Uptown are right up your alley. Expect people gyrating with glow sticks on the small stage area where the bands normally play. But be warned: some of these guys are using glow balls on strings that will smack you in the face if you get too near. Best part: There's no cover and starts at 10 p.m.
Wednesday's new Filth Night at the Emerald offers something for the the St. Petersburg hipsters who wish they lived in Brooklyn. It's not high-class, but has a great mix of music, from cool classics to the latest hits. Plus, it's still ladies night so all the girls can get their drink on for cheap while dancing and shaking to the music. Cover charge is only $1.
Here's a big hint to small bar owners in St. Pete: Dancing is fun. You don't need a large venue like Vintage or Push to get people off their feet and moving.

Now you don't need a computer to find great things to do, restaurants and movie times. Visit go.tampabay.com on your mobile device and find everything you need.
If you searched today's events, here is some of what you'd find:
Keller Williams:
“I wanna jump your bones, but you’re on the phone and it sounds kind of
important,” quirky jam man Keller Williams, right, sings on 'Restraint'. The
highly likeable entertainer offers funk, bluegrass, rock, reggae,
whistling, folksy raps and funny business. And though he’s joined
forces with String Cheese Incident, Bela Fleck, Bob Weir and others on
a number of occasions, he’s returning here to the one-man “loop” act
he’s built his career upon. Essentially, Williams records himself
playing, then puts it on a loop so that he can switch to other
instruments and arrangements. 8 p.m. Jannus Landing, 16 Second St. N,
St. Petersburg. $25. (727) 896-2276.
Chicago City Limits: Founded in 1979, Chicago City Limits is New York’s longest-running Off-Broadway revue. Taking audience suggestions throughout the show, the cast performs scenes and games that can be hilarious and innovative. May contain adult language and situations. 8 p.m. Largo Cultural Center, 105 Central Park Drive, Largo. $22-$27. (727) 587-6793.

Construction delays turned the grand opening of the ultramodern Aja nightclub over the weekend into a "family and friends" event, a club spokesman said.
Those who bought tickets to Aja (pronounced Asia) and weren't able to get in the Channelside club were given refunds, said Enrique De Jesus, a property partner and club promoter. "We originally intended to make it our grand opening, but with all the construction delays, we didn't have ample time to train staff," De Jesus said. "But there was phenomenal turnout. There were hundreds of people waiting to get into the place. A lot of people could not get in."
He said the club would be ready for Super Bowl parties. Aja will debut with scheduled appearances by Pamela Anderson, DJ AM, Jazzy Jeff and several NFL players.
Located on the ground floor of the Towers of Channelside, the 11,300-square-foot space was named after Steely Dan's album Aja. The $4.24-million, two-level club has four bars and an outdoor patio with glowing lights that change colors.

No limits on laughs

When I think laundromats in St. Pete, I'm normally thinking about getting together five pounds of quarters together for a dryer that will still leave my clothes as damp as mid-summer sun-shower. What I don't think of is a music video being filmed with a wacky dream sequence premise. I'll keep you updated to when the video will be up. Until then, check out some of the wacky characters who showed up for Mannequin Made's bizarre concept video.
No music video would be complete without a biker performing a marriage. Keith Dieter definitely has the bike part down but it's hard to imagine him as priest. Unless they make leather vestments, that is.
The other part of the wedding involves the lovely Randy Morgan who thankfully won't be giving her hand in marriage to the dog. It'd be a little too weird for me if that was the case.
The lucky man in the faux-wedding is none other than Chip Santiago of the midget Chippendale's fame. I've got to give it up for his girl Jasmine Medina though. First, dancing for dollars, Now he's off getting married to an extremely tall woman for a music video. You have to respect a supportive girlfriend.
