Florida has always educated its children on the cheap, and it always will as long as Florida remains the retirement mecca for the US. Retirees have no vested interest in Florida's children.

As a teacher, I suggest that legislators discontinue the appropriations for A+ School Recognition and MAP. Use the monies to offset the shortfall.

The programs are divisive and burdensome.

Joe Pickens has done a wonderful job as Chairman of the House Education Council. He would have made a fablous Commissioner of Education but his departure would have also created a hugh void in educaiton leadership in the House.
His insight as a former "insider" in the system is invaluable. He knows there is waste and not afraid to talk about it.
And Timmy- as long as there is obvious waste I think adaquate is quite adaquate!
Joe Picken's door is always open and his leadership will be invaluable during special session and beyond.

Timmy!

"whether it's a good year or a bad year, the Legislature has always made the adequate funding of public education a priority."

"adequate" says it all. Define adequate. I believe adequate yeilds mediocre. 'nuff said.
