UF student Andrew Meyer’s plea to Taser-wielding campus police spawned a host of T-shirts and cyberspace traffic jams on YouTube.
Now comes this history-making distinction: most memorable quote of 2007.
The folks with the Yale Book of Quotations have chosen “Don’t Tase Me, Bro,” as the quote of the year, saying it symbolizes the influence and speed of pop culture.
Just a couple of days after officers stunned Meyer following his disruption of a campus speech by U.S. Sen. John Kerry, footage of the Sept. 17 incident was all over the Internet, and people were sporting the phrase in their ringtones and on T-shirts.
