The Hillsborough teachers union is looking for evidence of how things are shaping up under the teaching schedule implemented this school year requiring high school instructors to teach six out of seven periods.
Expect to see a survey of teachers soon. Jean Clements, president of the Hillsborough Classroom Teachers Association, says teachers will be able to comment anonymously. "We simply want to ask teachers after they've gotten through a little more than half of the year what they see as the real impacts of teaching a six out of seven day," she says.
The results will be reviewed separately for teachers at high schools formerly on a block schedule, which have converted to traditional schedules this year, and those previously on a traditional schedule. Middle school magnet teachers, also affected, will be surveyed too.
Clements does not yet know when the survey will go out, but expects it may be in February. She said the query will seek to be sensitive to demands on teacher time, including the upcoming FCAT testing.

Unless there is open access to the results of the survey, you can kiss an honest result good bye.
How many years, how many different scenarios, how many different don't-look-behind-the-curtain shams is it going to take before enough people figure out why it always stays the same?
Who wants to wager that the CTA survey response will be nothing less than an overwhelmng majority of support for the administration and the direction they are going.
It can't be anything less, or else all will be lost.
Anti up.

Good strategy. Wait until it is too late to act on the results this year.
Think the teacher's needed 27 weeks to assess the results?
Will the CTA curve the score?
Why even HAVE an association?
