Are schools asking for too many supplies?
Yes, there's no way my kid needs 12 glue sticks.
No, when times are tight, we all need to chip in.
I still can't figure out why Rose Art crayons aren't good enough.

Pickens glum on '08-09 schools money

Don't look to Palatka Rep. Joe Pickens for Charlie Crist-like optimism and sunshine, not when it comes to next year's budget.

He opened up the Schools and Learning Council meeting this afternoon with this soundbite: "However bad you believe it will be, it will be worse than that. We will be decreasing the budget. I don't forsee there being any additional entities held harmless going into next year."

Ouch.

Comments

I think that the Republicans should cut public schools to the bone after promising to hold them harmless. Then they should run for re-election. They should run really fast from the pitchforks and torches.

The legislature and Gov. Charlie "be all thing to everyone" Crist have shown a lack of honesty here as well as an inabilty to set priorities.
