Principal at Newsome denies graduation: My daughter attended Newsome HS for 3 1/2,earned 21 of the 24 credits. She started to hang out with a bad group and her grades suffered. Since she had only 3 credits left the counselor Mr Perez recomeneded to take her to an adult school with the promise that she will complete the 3 credits and came back to Newsome for her diplome. When she completed the credits and came back the Principal denies that the counselor ever said that and denies her the right to walk on her graduation. Even though she completed school she has no graduation ceremony.
How can a Principal who is supposed to have the best interest of the student could simple deny my daugther such important part of her life?. Do I have any recourse? I am desperate!!.

Recourse? Yes, you do. Your recourse is that you sit down with your daughter and explain to her that you are very proud of her for finishing her schooling. Then you both accept the fact that actions have consequences. Your daughter made bad choices and not walking with her class is the consequence. She will be fine: In fact, better off in the long run if you help her understand this lesson.
Just because our feelings are hurt does not mean that a lawsuit is merited.

To Susana - A tough LIFE lesson is learned. You need to accept it and then help your daughter accept it.
