Mr. Jeb's honor roll

State Rep. Rick Kriseman, D-St. Petersburg, got a C this morning. But given the source, it’s probably not the worst C he ever got.

The middling grade was handed out by Jeb Bush’s Foundation for Florida’s Future, which unveiled its first-ever report card for lawmakers. “I’m fine with that,” Kriseman, a steady critic of Bush’s education policy, told The Gradebook about his grade. “I’m not going to be obstructionist and disagree with something just because it’s (supported by) Jeb.”

The grades were largely based on how lawmakers voted last spring on a select group of education bills (the foundation keyed in on 14 in House and 17 in the Senate). Kriseman got points for supporting bills that strengthened academic standards, improved workforce education and revamped the state’s grading formula or high schools. He didn’t get points for voting against expansion of corporate tax credit vouchers and for elimination of school recognition money. "I'm proud of my votes," he said. "I don't care about grades. I care about issues."

Overall, 82 of 120 state representatives got A’s while only 14 of 40 senators did. In both chambers, Democrats must have been sitting in the back row and firing spitballs, because only nine of them got A’s (and most if not all of them voted for the voucher expansion). Among them: state Reps. Bill Heller, D-St. Petersburg, Darryl Rouson, D-St. Petersburg and Janet Long, D-Seminole.

The foundation matrix did not include positions on overall education spending, which was cut this year for the first time in decades despite Democratic protest.

OOPS. 38th place should have included the subject Reading in my earlier post.

This is the dumbest and most politically motivated report card I'd ever seen. Without exception, its almost a badge of honor to get an "F" on this bogus report card after all Jeb has done to run education and this state in the ground.

And, I a supporter of his tax credit scholarships !

wonder if his wife grades his performance...i'm betting she has grade it on a curve. special ed matrix?

Me Again,

You took the words out of my mouth.

I wonder if readers are to look at this article without seeing the tie in of political wills and education.

The Foundation for Florida's Future gets an F from me on its education stances. Florida ranks near the bottom
on ACT scores. On the SAT, Florida is tied for 38th place, tied for 47th in Math, and 44th in Writing. Add our enormous dropout rate and ask what future this report card giving foundation wants for our children! All these A schools must be shocked. Our writing proficiency scores certainly are not consistent with SAT Writing. I wonder how the Foundation grades.

Wonder how long it took Jade to call Janet..."Hello Janet, remember that endorsement I arranged for you..."

I give Pat's first report card a "D" for dumb. In the year that public education gets sent backward almost two years in funding, she gives 82 "A's" to various House members. The highest grade for last year's work should have been a "C." Supposedly, if you read Pat's propaganda, they do actually care about commitment to public school funding at the "Foundation." The grades PROVE otherwise.

Heller, Rouson and Long need to be schooled in how to support public education.

Maybe a little remedial work in equal opportunity is in order also.
