Controversial Carvalho emails surface

We've reported this morning about some controversial emails being circulated that suggest Miami-Dade and Pinellas superintendent candidate Alberto Carvalho had an intimate relationship with a Miami Herald schools reporter. The Miami New Times has included a link to the emails.

Carvalho said the emails appear to have been doctored as part of a "smear campaign" against him. He has strongly denied anything beyond a professional relationship with the reporter, Tania deLuzuriaga, who is now with the Boston Globe. Carvalho has ordered an investigation into the emails.

Originally, I supported Mr. Carvalho, in the question and answer session/interview aired on TV last week. He seemed better prepared and comfortable as he presented himself, confidant!

Now, the infamous, emails have surfaced and I just cannot seem to think of the past recent history we have had in the Bay Area were we had to endure in our schools, of Education professionals having questionable unprofessional contacts with students.

The last thing I, would want is the school system's Chief Executive, to have taken over with such a dark cloud of this magnitude over his head. His removing his name from consideration is probably the best thing for the Pinellas County School System.
