The State Board of Education will come to Tampa next week to talk about how to rewrite Florida's education strategic plan for the next generation.
Gone will be eight "strategic imperatives," to be replaced by six "areas of focus."
The overarching vision? "To change the culture of our schools from pre-k to post-secondary by raising the ceiling and raising the floor to better enable students for success in the 21st century."
Interested? You can read the proposals here and attend the workshop at 1 p.m. Monday at the Tampa Airport Marriott.

I might have to slash my wrists before I agree with terminator; however, in this time of horrible budgets, I might suggest that the FBOE slash its own budget to $0 to preserve funding "for the classroom."

that meeting should be about as exciting as watching paint dry.
the state BOE is a collection of ninkompoops who can't even spell education let alone think strategically.
there's not one person working in Florida K-12 education system who could care less what these losers drum up.
they are inconsequential and the districts do as they please. there has been no substantive legislation passed that's eminated from the FL BOE.
they should be abolished, they are a waste of taxpayer money.

If you really wanted parent, teacher, student, and public input or participation, wouldn't you schedule the workshop when they could actually attend?
