After three years of trying, Cape Coral mom Debbie Johnston finally got Florida lawmakers to approve "Jeff's Law," which requires school districts to create tough antibullying policies. Now she's taking her activism on the road.
And you can get some tips from her at 2 p.m. on Sept. 25.
That's when Johnston will "speak" during a free hourlong Web seminar about cyber-bullying and Internet safety. All you have to do is sign up at www.safewave.org and then tune in at the scheduled time.
The sponsors say this event is geared toward parents, PTA members and educators, among others. Maybe you'll want to check it out.

Bullying online which leads to more bullying at school is a revalent issue we all must deal with. There is not one teacher who has not witnessed a child bullying another child (or groups for that matter.) The difference in today's world is that the internet aspect of bullying stays online forever continuing to torment an individual.
I applaud the courage of Ms. Johnson that even in her grief she reached out to help others.

I met the Johnston family in Tallahassee last year when I was visiting legislators and lobbying them on Education issues (I'm a teacher, not a professional lobbyist). Their story is gripping and unbelievable in regards to the lack of support that they received at every level of Law Enforcement and Local and State government. The Johnston's have my deepest respect and empathy. They are an example for us all!
