Carvalho saga ends with contract in Miami-Dade

Carvalho_in_miami_pix The Miami-Dade School Board voted 6-3 today to give a two-year contract to its new superintendent, Alberto Carvalho, instead of the three-year deal he initially negotiated, the Miami Herald reports. The board voted down the three-year contract after controversy arose about Carvalho's quick selection as superintendent and purported e-mails suggesting a possible romantic link between Carvalho and the Herald's former education reporter.

Last month, Carvalho (left) turned down an offer to be the Pinellas superintendent after the Miami-Dade board selected him just hours after it parted ways with former superintendent Rudy Crew. His new contract calls for a salary of $275,000.

me thinks Prince Albert is going to be in for some rough sledding.
will he be able to keep his pants on?
this is the pilot, put on your seatbelts we're about to hit some turbulence!

Dear joker,

Not that it would bother you to be wrong since it is just the standard operating procedure for you, but I will say that you are wrong about this "story." Why do you need two names termie. If the Herald ever actually investigates, they might have to retract their previous assertions faster than CBS could ship Dan Rather to the old age home. But, they probably won't ever actually do their job since the rumor sold so many papers.

I am still waiting for you to name one single comeptent and well intentioned superintendent in the entire state. Since you know them all so well, I am sure you can come up with one unless you are just so small and anti-leadership that you would suggest that 67 strong men and woman are all incompetent or corrupt. You are truly sad. I will pray for you.

All I know is the guy has the best job of his life and the woman is now unemployed. Doesn't seem fair.

11:59 -- "I am still waiting for you to name one single comeptent and well intentioned superintendent in the entire state."

Superintendent??? You aren't thinking broadly enough. Name a board, just one.

The first two things a board throws out the window are intelligence and accountabiilty.

I could name a bunch of school boards and superintendents that do a terrific job for their students, parents and taxpayers. But, since I am not afraid of a challenge (unlike termie/joker/wonder woman), I will offer the Charlotte County School Board. When was the last time that you read a story about their infighting or silly controversy. They survived Charlie which caused over $200 million in direct losses which is almost an entire operational budget year for them. Every board member is different. They find a way to build consensus. The schools there were noted as a pillar for the entire community after the storm, but the reality is that they always are that stable force for the county.

I will note that termie is still hiding after months of being called out on this issue. He will not respond because he cannot dare to support even a single leader of a district in Florida.

Two days later and termie/joker/wonder woman is still hiding rather than take a pretty mild challenge. Who knew that the blogger bully was such a "cat woman."
