Drill, baby, drill? How about learn, baby, learn?
It's hard to imagine a bigger global issue than energy consumption. To raise awareness, Progress Energy has chipped in $25,000 to the Science Center of Pinellas County to establish a room where elementary school students will learn about energy production, efficiency and alternatives.
Third-graders from Rawlings Elementary in Pinellas Park will be on hand for tomorrow's 10 a.m. grand opening.

10:06, You may not know it, but you will be paying their bill. Haven't you heard the power companies are hinting around for "assistance." All big businesses are gonna get a piece of the tax payer pie before Bush leaves office.
The same people who degrade women raising childen and call them welfare moms are eating at the govt.'s trough.
Your treat.

The science center could have (and should have) gotten a lot more to help Progress Energy brand this little kids.
20 years from now another energy source will try to break through the market and these young adults will have some warm, fuzzy elementary school memory about Progress Energy. They won't know why they feel loyal to the brand, but they will be loyal.
$25,000 is a steal for such marketing ploys.

peanuts! This will go the way of the vet exhibit, a lot of fanfare, then business as usual. The room will fall into disuse do to lack of teachers willing to learn a new curriculum and no funding to continue.
