Eckerd College sure does like president Donald Eastman.
How much? Enough to extend his contract through June 2014.
The trustees didn't have to do that, either. They had given him a second five-year deal just two years ago.
But in reviewing Eastman's performance, the college's Presidential Assessment and Compensation Committee found his work so exceptional as to recommend the college keep him longer. The board "enthusiastically" agreed, as this news release points out.
Eastman joined Eckerd College in 2001 as its fourth president. He came to the school from the University of Georgia, where he worked 10 years in a variety of leadership roles.
